On Saturday night, Gina's sister was visiting us and she wanted to go for a ride in the kat so I told Gina to take her for a spin. After they left, one of the boys came over to me and with a worried look in his face said "You let mom take the prowler? - you never let anyone else drive the kat!!!!" I shared this with Gina and we had a good laugh. ------------------ |

I tried to get my girlfriend Mindy to drive it. She said she was scared to because it was so expensive. Plus she doesn't like it (she would have rather I bought a truck). I'm hoping if I force her to drive it at least once, she'll end up liking the car more. And I'll get to drive it more often when we go places... ------------------ |

My wife has ridden in the Orange Prowler one time. Just not excited about cars at all. My daughters (14 and 18) on the other hand, always want to ride or drive! Steve ------------------ |

Is "do you LET" a little heavy for the question, should the question be "DOES your spouse drive the Prowler"? |

My wife takes the Kat whenever she wants. I still do the majority of the driving, but that is her choice. ------------------ |

I tell my wife if she can get it off the rack she can drive it or else we go together. I like to keep an eye on my investments. LOL ------------------ |

"Do you let" is probably verrry appropriate in many cases .. not so in others. However, since my wife has a thing for parking curbs, drives a SUV normally, and the Caddy still has a scar from her last encounter ... it would be a "What, are you crazy for letting ..." type question that I have to ask myself. The darn noses are just too susceptible to damage .. and putting curb feelers out there would be ... um ... bad. |

Cliff, Not sure if I want other guys approaching my woman!! But I'll be willing to let her do that as long as she brings me back some fries... My brother's girlfriend loves it. She takes it out for a spin everytime she sees it. This message has been edited by ProwlerOrange2001 on 04-01-2002 at 12:40 PM |

Al, sad to say, there is no cure for taste. Originally for months I would not let Ophie drive my cars, but now I let her take them out and she goes cruising with her sister or a girl friend. And in this case, LET is totally the right word. ------------------ |

I can't vote on the poll. It doesn't give enough options. I've literally begged Bob to drive my cats.....but he WON'T. He keeps telling me that they were a gift to me, they are mine and I should be the one to drive them.....with or without him in the car. He still won't after giving me the second cat! What's a girl to do? For many years, he'd bring all kinds of "toys" home to drive and he'd be the one to drive them. He never let me.. so now that I have my own "toys" he feels I should be the one to drive when we take them out! Probably a good thing anyway, as he'd have to arm-wrestle me for the keys....! |

The Prowler is my fiancι's favorite car but she refuses to drive mine. I think it has to do with the price of the car and not wanting to damage the car (and subsequently having to tell me afterwards). I have offered to let her drive it several times, but she declines everytime. ------------------ MTD Prowler Intake System 2.2 |

Calling Dave Mills, Al Braga needs help...PLEASE EXPLAIN ABOUT THE `51...Maybe he needs to do as you did Sue takes the car to car show when I'm working and does all the clean up herself. But at 1st she was afraid of the car and didn't want to drive it. Now she drives it whenever she wants, or I let her, hehe ------------------ This message has been edited by WildCat on 04-01-2002 at 04:52 PM |

When I am not at home my Wife has taken OUR Cat out for some Prowlin whenever she feels like it. She is very into cars and most especially the Prowler and knows all the precautions to take. If it was not for her I could not afford it on my own, so it as much hers as mine. ------------------ |

I have no qualms about her driving the car. She's probably a better driver than me (don't let her know that I said that). I am a little apprehensive about her and parking curbs, but probably not any more than I am about myself and parking curbs. (Haven't hit any yet!! Knock on wood) ------------------ |

Here is how I handle the situation.... Dew Drop has a strong desire to drive the machine and to her credit, she does have two Corvette's. Her driving skills are somewhat in question in comparison with mine as she does posses a heavy foot. I have seen her drive and it is as if she is rehearsing for an accident so I am reluctant to ride with her in any car! She likes the Prowler and would probably drive it more but it is in the garage and covered so it is difficult to decide on the spur of the moment to take it. Lastly, I always tell her that she has a 30 MPH brain and a car is a 100 MPH machine so drive accordingly. That always gets a rapid response. At my age, I do a fair amount of acquiescing when it comes to the fresh stuffs and, I am happy if they will take me for any kind of ride. It is an arduous task to go anywhere as they have a tendency to throw themselves at me seeking affection. I gotta run as my GI Joe boxer shorts arrived today and I am dying to break them in according to the owners manual. Scot ------------------ |

Hey do not let the ladies fool you. I have had my Kat for about a month now. I leave it in the Garage most of the days. However last Thursday I came home and went in to dust off the Kat to take it out for a spin and what do I find it is warm. I ask my wife how her day was and what has she been doing. The answer Nothing. I did not let on that I knew she had been out in the Kat. She has always taken my street rods to the Grocery store. This car has no trunk so shorter trips. May save me some money ....... Got to love it. She obviously does in her quiet way. |

Too bad your wife feels she has to sneak the car out.....maybe you should just get her one of her own!! Oh.....and for the record....I let my daughter-in-law drive it the first day I got it!! 'Course that was only one time, but hey! She really likes my new Candy Red....I may be in trouble now......lol! This message has been edited by CJ on 04-02-2002 at 12:29 AM |

On the poll question there isn't a option for "Make your spouse drive" I think Rebecca is a little nervous about driving it alone to Colorado with the trailer. She has driven the KAT on occasion but prefers to ride and make faces at the people who stare. I finally got her to stop "mooning" others, though. Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |

Great story Jim R! Good thing Gina doesn't read the board that often (Watch, she will log on and read this LOL). I think one of the best time Gina had in the kat was when she picked up one of her friends to take her to a surprise birthday dinner - Her friend didn't know we had the kat so it was a surprise ride and a surprise birthday - fun for all ------------------ |
