OK, I OWNED A 70 CHEVELLE FOR 21 YEARS NO PROBLEMS GETTING PARTS OR ANYTHING I EVER WANTED....NOW I OWN A 2001 PROWLER SINCE SEPTEMBER (SOLD THE CHEVELLE) IN THE LAST MONTH I HAVE SEEN NOTHING BUT A SCRAMBLE FOR PARTS: MUD FLAPS, CARGO SPACE, TRAILERS, FLOOR MATS AND SO ON....WHAT IF I ACTUALLY WRECK THE CAR, ARE THE PARTS GOING TO BE AVAILABLE.....MY CAR IS BRAND NEW AND IM GETTING SCARED TO DRIVE IT!!! IT'S IN STORAGE WITH JUST 660 MILES ON IT (SINCE I LIVE IN OHIO) I WILL BE GETTING IT OUT THE FIRST OF APRIL AND ALL I CAN THINK OF IS THE GENTLEMAN WHO HIT THE CURB, DOING $21,000 IN DAMAGE AND NO PARTS AVAILABLE...I LOVE THIS CAR TO DEATH BUT DONT WANT IT TO BE THE DEATH OF ME....I AM FAR FROM MADE OF MONEY...AM I GETTING CARRIED AWAY?? OR AM I SPENDING TO MUCH TIME ONLINE?? I HOPE IT TO MUCH TIME ONLINE.... ------------------ |

Art, first of all I would close the hood. Driving with it up will cause a lot of damage and even leaving the hood up while parked can expose the engine, belts, hoses, etc. to damaging sun rays. It is only a car, albeit the coolest car ever made, it is still just a car to give you enjoyment. So relax and enjoy it. Don't believe everything you read, unless of course it was posted by me. lol. The parts that are now in short supply will be replaced. Once the suppliers see there is a demand they will make more. Try to make it to a Prowler event and meet some other owners. ------------------ |

Just enjoy your Kat. An auto manufacturer must, by law, provide parts for a car or a specific model, for 10 years. JRL |

I am not really worried at all about a scarcity of parts. Like it was mentioned, manufacturers are obligated to make replacement parts available. As long as I have a warranty on my Prowler, I will drive it with a smile on my face and not worry about it breaking. ------------------ MTD Prowler Intake System 2.2 |

I am not too worried about parts. I have been collecting cars for over 30 years. If there is a market, someone will make the parts. I can still get parts for my 1928 Plymouth. ------------------ |

I think any accident in one of these cars will probably total it! I saw one in a fairly minor front hit, and it was totaled. So just drive it and have fun..... thats what I plan to do. ------------------ |

Art, There were alot more chevelle's but a few years ago they became harder to get until they started to reproduce them. Now you can build a new chevelle in about any year you would like. I sold my `71 Cuda convertible because I could not get parts for it, then 2 years later you could get whatever you wanted for it....KICK ME NOW Drive it and enjoy ------------------ |

Art: As with most "club boards", this one is no different. They tend to represent bee hives where the masses swarm around what ever is the hot and trendy topic. In this case, it is the end of production and the end of civilization as we know it (translates into; run out and stock pile parts while you can). I recall hearing about an accident involving a Prowler down in New Orleans back in '98, the big beginning of the Kat, and parts to repair it took several months. It just all depends on what D/C has ordered from vendors for stock. And, since production HAS ended, I am sure that there will be a transfer of any left over 'production' parts to their 'service parts operations' (unless they simply scrap them as GM does at model changes in Bowling Green - what a waste!). So ... sit back until the sun shines and you can enjoy your "adult toy" on warm, clear days. And take what you read here or anywhere on the Internet with a grain of salt, life is too short to get worked up over nuthin ... Prowl On |

As I posted on my other thread.........car parts for the Prowler will continue to be available for a long time. It is just the accessories that will be discontinued in time. |

I for one am not going out and buying parts to save up. The only thing extra I might consider buying as a spare are the top latches and wheel center caps (already have one spare). But this is in case one of these items gets broken while I am traveling to a POA event. ------------------ |

Art, get out there and enjoy that Prowler. Drive defensively and don't worry about wrecking it. By the way, where the heck is Louisville, OH. Aren't you in the wrong state??? ------------------ |
