I wanted to get some Zainos products to make my Cat really glossy and sparkly before the drive Saturday. BUT they don't accept credit cards so I wouldn't be able to get the product in time. Anyone know of some really good alternative products I can get at the store? I would really like to get out the swirl marks but I can wait for the Zainos stuff for that. Guess I shouldn't wax the car then either. Help =\

You could use the 3M products. Not as deep a shine but they do have some nice stuff. I have used their stuff before and it is a 2 step scratch remover and then a 2 step wax. It will be passable.

Good Luck,
Voodoo

I know it's a little to late for Saturday but here's a place that accepts credit cards http://www.indycamaro.com/glossboss.htm , the 3M swirl remover is a good product as Voodoo has mentioned.

Try the $12 Zymol that you can get at your local Wal-Mart. It came in second to Zaino in an independent test.

Actually the results were as follows...
1)Zaino
2)Zymol (cheap $12 kind)
3)Zymol (expensive NSX kind)
4)Macguires GOLD

I'll see if I can find the link. http://www.nsxsc.com/nsexcitement/waxtest.html

Use ProtectAll - you can buy it a place like Camper World. You may never go back to Zaino again (go ahead, let the flames begin but I have used both).

Protectall is a wax product that you wipe on and wipe off and you can use it on EVERYTHING (well, probably not the cloth top) and it looks great and leaves a great shine.

You can buy from www.ecklers.com and use a credit card. I think you pay a bit more but you can probably get it overnight.

Cliff,

I just checked out protectall.com. How long have you been using their product? How all does it beat Zaino in your eyes? Price (looks like an easy yes)? Ease of use? Shine? Durability? Do you also use their Easy Wash?

I was thinking about ordering almost $100 of product from Zaino for my new Candy Red, but looks like $30 goes a long way with ProtectAll.

Any more ProtectAll users out there?

Thanks.

Mike

p.s. Any chance of you adding a Candy Red wallpaper Cliff?

Don't know if you can get the products here and applied before Saturday am, but I ordered my stuff from a Zaino distributor in LA. Ira Emus is his name phone number 310-478-4092, he takes credit cards.

Are you going to meet at the park and ride on Saturday? See the post in the events section.

Hey Dawn, I emailed with Tom but haven't gotten back to him yet. Yea the AM/PM off of Deer Springs rd is good. That's where I used to meet with some other car enthusiasts for a ride up Palomar Mtn. Oiy! Gotta get up early though =( I'm definitely not a morning person. I'm hoping my wife joins me but not sure as of now.

Oh yea, forgot to mention I just ordered Zainos products from Bill Wammock somewhere near San Luis Obispo. Should get the stuff tomorrow or Friday. $100 is a bit pricey but from what he said it goes a long way. Heck if I can pay $100 for someone to detail my car once I can certainly pay to do it 10x or so and get a better finish.

Mike - the ProtectAll is great! It is so easy to apply. Todd Cameron (from here) turned me on to the stuff - I couldn't believe my eyes. I have had guys ask me if I use Zaino and I tell them no, not anymore - just ProtectAll.

Outlast? I don't know - I use it everytime I wash it. Heck, it only takes an hour or so to do the whole car, including the wheels. If my car gets wet, including when I spray it to wash it - the water beads right up.

I am going to do a test for Saturday - I am going to do part of my kat with Zaino and part with ProtectAll and see if anyone can tell the difference.

There is someone else who uses it besides Todd & I but I don't remember who - do a search for it here and see what threads come up.

It is easy to get too - just go over to Camper World and they have it on the shelf. My neighbor saw me with it and went over and got some for his new truck - he found it in a spray bottle - I am getting that next time

The really nice thing about the stuff (besides ease of use and shine) is I can use it on my wheels, tires, paint, rubber, seats - whatever and it doesn't leave that white residue mark that paste wax does.

I love the stuff (can ya' tell )

How long have you been using their product?
Since about June or so. I actually stopped using it to try Zaino and went back to it.

How all does it beat Zaino in your eyes?
I can't tell the difference.

Price (looks like an easy yes)?
EASY YES!!!

Ease of use?
Couldn't be easier - wipe on and wipe off.

Shine?
I can see my neighbors flowers and colors and his house is across the street.

Durability?
Answered above.

Do you also use their Easy Wash?
No - Haven't tried that yet. I have been using the Zaino wash since I already bought it. I have to say - I like the way Zaino wash smells

Any chance of you adding a Candy Red wallpaper Cliff?
OOPS!!! Let me email William Gallagher and see if he has that color down - he did all the different cars and I plugged them in to the scenery. Guess I should add gold too

Cliff, thanks for the info. Very complete and very appreciated. I think I may try the ProtectAll. Thanks for checking on the wallpaper too.

You betcha!! In the past 40 years I've only stayed with three polishes/waxes.

  • First Blue Coral - pain in the butt, took all day with the two part process. Shine started to haze after a week.
  • Westly's Super Concentrate. Easy on easy off. if you missed a spot, it easily wiped off a week later. Shine lasted about a year. It became hard to find in the stores.
  • ProtectAll - been using it the last 7 years. Easy on and easy off. Shine can last a year (I wax the kcat more often). Doesn't leave a haze, but it can leave an oily looking film that will come off the next time you wash or spray & shine.

I look at other waxes in the stores, but as soon as I read don't get on: plastic, trim, vinyl, rubber or whatever, it quickly goes back onto the shelf.

BeWare, I got the complete detailer package. I got the ZFX, Z-2, Z-5, Z-6, Z-7, Claybar, and maybe one more thing not sure. Have it all written down at work. Claybar is like $17.
I probably didn't have to get all of it but I have to get rid of swirls and want an ultra glossy wet look. I think the Candy Red is made for that look.
