This I think is a very good idea for DC to consider.. (1) I think DC should offer to raffle off the Blue Kat to the POA members first, we are the die hard Prowler nuts and have been DC's biggest supporters since the beginning of this journey of the Prowler!!!! (2) Who would appreciate winning it more. IMO no one than one of us. (3) I personally think they should at least offer it in a raffle to all the Prowler owner's as they have supported DC. (4) This Kat is as special as the very first one off the assembly line, which I hope is in the very best of hands, and I think this one should be also JMO. (5) Your thoughts?? |

It will be interesting to see how DC handles this. I think that by limiting bidding to the POA members would cause uproar in the other DC community members-namely the Dealers. The amount of $ to be raised for this one of a kind car using the dealers as sellers of tickets could be staggering. ------------------ |

I would guess that DC will donate the car to a charity or cause and let them handle the nightmare of executing the raffle. ------------------ |

The figure being bounced around at CAAP was $300,000. That is a lot of chances or else mighty high priced chances. I am not complaining about any of it, just reporting what was told to us. I don't think Prowler owners would buy that many chances. I am in for one or two, though. ------------------ |

I think the last one should be raffled off and all-ALL! proceeds to be divided among all the workers at CAAP. I hears some are on permanent leave. Sassy |

I would like to see the LAST Prowler offered "only" to the POA members or to the "original" OWNER's (not dealerships that kept the cars) of any Prowler. It should go to a person that actually paid for a car. The New England Prowler Club had a charity raffle for a Blue Kat last fall. Unfortunately, it was after 9/11, and the $100 ticket price was to much for most to handle. They only sold around 500 tickets (+/-). I fear that the only feasible way to raffle the car is to keep the tickets "affordable" for everyone, not just the richer people of the world - and to make it nationwide. That is the only way that whomever is conducting the raffle will ever sell enough tickets to make the $300K number that was mentioned above. Whoever win's the raffle, I'm sure will be approached by a few collectors (Mike K. & ???). ------------------ |

They have made one of a kind Vipers and only sold tickets to Viper owners in a raffle. They have even gone so far as to only sell the new Vipers to previous Viper owners, so anything is possible. I would love to win it. I would love to have another Prowler but I am not going to worry about it, one way or another. I am just pleased they made them and I got one. ------------------ |

I think the best route to sell the tickets would be via the POA website just as the VCA does on the Vipers. Anyone that can go online can buy a ticket or a member can tell there friends and relatives to buy a ticket. Viper raffle tickets run $100 each. I think the Prowler raffle tickets should be $50 and sell 3,000 tickets. All money from the drawing will be donated to a very worthy cause, I'm sure. I know Mike Krehel and the POA would do and equally good if not better job than the VCA to promote this raffle. |

I know many of you will hate me for saying this but I think Chrysler should put the Electric Blue Prowler in the Chrysler Museum. Its too beautiful and FAR too historical to be aloud to fall into the hands of some wealthy and selfish collector's private collection (which is what WILL happen) and never seen again by any of us who ever gave a crap about the Prowler. This Prowler should be shared with all of us and the only way to do that is to put it in the Chrysler Museum on display. ------------------ |

Spyder, I disagree with you. I think if someone wins it and wants to drive it and show it, that is their choice. Maybe they would want to drive it for awhile and then sell it to a high bidder. It is a car, not necessarily a museum piece. I am not saying you are not entitled to your opinion but I think it is a very individual and personal decision. If I won it, I would not immediately sell it. I realize driving it would impact the price but I still would drive it some. The Chrysler museum is not really centrally located where a lot of people would see it. How many people will be going to Detroit versus Las Vegas, Fla, LA, etc. so if you want it to be accessible to the masses it should go to a warmer climate or a more central location in the country or on one of the coasts. Just my opinion. I am not trying to give you a hard time. ------------------ |

I know Ed will not believe I am saying this, but when I win the Blue Prowler, I will NOT modify it. As the last Prowler, I think it should remain stock, just as Chrysler made it. I would however, like Ed, drive it on special occassions. It certainly would not be my daily driver as my 2000 Black is now. To me cars are made to be driven, not stuffed in a museum. If I was going to make a investment I would take the money and use it in a more traditional financial transaction. Spyder. We live in a couple of free counties here and have the luxury of free speach. Although I don't share your total views on the Blue Kat I personally wouldn't sell it if I won it. I think there are lots of people who would.I would think that most of this group of diehard Kat owners would probably keep it. JMO PK |

quote: I disagree. Here in America, you are not guaranteed a job for life. Just because they got laid off doesn't mean they should get anything extra (other than what was normally given to them). If they got a job, would they have to then give the money back? Or if they are already employeed would they be excluded? And what if they can't find a job or won't look? Should DC keep raffling off cars to support tha laggards? I for one, can completely empathise with their plight as I used to be a geologist and got laid off more times than I can remember till I wised up and switched professions. Perhaps getting laid off was the best thing that could have happened to them. It has worked wonders for me!!! ------------------ Mods: 2001 Speed Yellow Porsche Cabriolet |

How much would this car be worth to somebody if it were sold? Yes I would sell it. I am looking to buy a house in the 170k range and if I could sell the car and "OWN" my house......You bet I would! The house would be a better investment IMO. I would only do this after I bragged on it for a while. I have a Black 00 and I love it. There is only one of me to drive two cars. Dont get me wrong,I'd love to be able to do as others and collect them. Even though I am blessed to own one, I am not blessed enough to be able to keep two no matter the circumstances. I seem to recall Chevy building a one of a kind vette 1-3 years back and gave it away to one of their employees. The C5 Registry valued it at something like $170K. Excuse me! Only thing different is a slightly different color that 99.99999% of all living society would not be able to differentiate for any other vette out there? I saw the pictures of the electric blue prowler and while it looks nice, it is still a stock prowler (albeit a slightly different paint color). 2 gallons of enamel and anyone with a prowler can have the same thing. Most dealers, that sold them, don't even know what a black tie or woodward is so do you think they would pay a ton more for a blue one? No, only the people in here understand what it is and what they all are probably would. I'd buy a raffle ticket and if I won, sell it to the highest bidder to put my babies through college or just enjoy it daily. It's just a car. ------------------ Mods: 2001 Speed Yellow Porsche Cabriolet |
