There is a very short blurb on the Chrysler Prowler in the December 24, 2001 issue of AutoWeek. It is on page 13 under Car Board. It says: The fine designers at Plymouth, Chrysler had no other reason to pen the Prowler than to flex their collective artistic muscle, and we thank them for it. And we do so sincerely. Despite its uncomfortable interior, questionable construction quality, anemic performance numbers and embarassing lack of a V8 - this [i]is[/] a "hot rod". The fact a production open-wheeler exists in America is downright cool, and for some people, cool counts for an awful lot, even if it's corporate, pre-packaged-for-your- convenience kind of cool. It's also nice to note that though Prowler has been around for five years - and it hardly carries a sticker to warrant the attention - it turns heads as quickly as the snarliest Lamborghini. Now that's successful design! |

I noticed (From the e-mails ) I posted last week that these folks were rather negative on the Prowler. Not overly impressed with their writing style!! My 2-cents! But we DO have the coolest production car ever produced!! |

jcredvette... Some folks just don't get it. I sincerely think you should buy a V-8 Mustang or Corvette and while you are at it frequent their website too. Shame on me (and not kidding)...you touched a raw nerve ------------------ |

For those of you who want more power.....go for it! I'm happy with the Cat as a cruiser, just the way it is. ------------------ |

The Prowler is a cruiser in every sense of the word. If you want a fast car, buy a Vette for the same money and have fun. If you want a cool car that is like NOTHING else you can buy.... buy a Prowler. Thats why I am saying goodbye to my Vette and hello to a kat! ------------------ |

Like I said, its the LOOK of the Prowler and the feeling you get when you drive it. One editor long ago in Car and Driver summed it up: "It is the ZOOM factor" which is a combination of style, feeling when behind the wheel and the overall personal exhilaration I get when I look at a Prowler or drive my Prowler. ZOOM, ZOOM!

Like I've said before, it's like comparing an Eagle with a Chicken. Nothing compares to a Prowler, it is a breed of its own. Some cars may go faster - but none have the 'Wow, Look At That Car' factor - that the Prowler has. I love it! |

If I wanted a vette, I would have bought a vette. I wanted a hot rod, I bought a Prowler. ------------------ |

It would be my sincere hope that no one owning a Prowler and involved with POA would be of a double digit IQ and low foreheaded enough to believe that the sole measure of an automobile is HOW FAST IT GOES!!!!!! D U H ! ! ! ------------------ |

Had a Viper, great mussle car. I wanted a hot rod also and something different from the crowd. Had first Prowler in lower Louisiana. Totally enjoyed the attention. Keep my 6. ------------------ |

0-60 in under 6 seconds, how much faster do you need to go, all that performance and still the only one on the road with the look of a cat, don't get much better |

Lotta folks think the true hot rod is just performance, creature comforts or value. Which car always blows them away everywhere, anyone from little kids to little old ladies? ------------------ This message has been edited by catterumpus on 12-29-2001 at 05:30 PM |

Anybody that owns one knows "it's the styling, stupid"! Never any different. Get in a situation where you're next to any exotic like a Ferrari or Porsche (that may be stretching the "exotic" label, but you get the point), and who gets the looks? My favorite is when I have my Blue guy in the NYC burbs. Lots of slick stuff owned by Wall Street yupsters. They'll drive by in their machines, making like mine is a stealth model....meantime, their kids are hanging out the window. Must drive 'em nuts. |

True Deelmaker, 100% true. Shortly after purchasing the first Kat I found myself sitting at a stoplight with a Boxster, BMW Z3, and a 911. Although my car was certainly not faster, they were so busy staring at the car and kicking themselves for not considering a Prowler that I just threw a little roost in their faces and blasted down the road when the light turned green. It was style, not horsepower. ------------------ -2001 Mulholland |
