My computer was infected by the BADTRANS virus today. It has sent out e-mail using my contact list much like the virus that Ed Monahan had a couple of months ago. Do not open any e-mail from me unless it says SAFE in the title line. Sorry for the problem but I am doing a virus scan at this time. |

Just finished completely scanning, deleting and repairing. I think I'm clean now but maybe it's best to check everything for a while as I'm not sure how many others I have infected. I've gotten returned e-mail from people who I don't even know. This thing's incredible. I don't send many e-mails and will not send any attachments. I was infected at about 3:00 PM today by an e-mail from a Prowler owner in Arruba that I hadn't spoken to in over two years. There was an attachment, I was leary of it, so I saved it to a floppy disc,,,so far so good huh? Then,,,, like an idiot I forgot to check it for virus and opened it. Sorry guys and girls. I got an email from Mary L Adams that simply said "Re" in the topic and had an attachment. I did not open it thanks to the warnings. What are the topics on the emails you all have been receiving??? ------------------ |

I got one from Larry, the message heading was "Re: Deadwood Rooms" and unfortunately I opened it. THEN I found out about the virus from here.  Thanks to JD for steering me to a solution. A helpful hint if you get infected - restart the computer and go into "Safe Mode" to get rid of the associated files. (McAffee kinda forgot to mention the safe mode part in their method to clear the little bugger!) Looks like the box is clear and safe again. (I don't know how DanP can play with these @#$%^& computers all day - every day!)

Just checked my email and I too picked up a corrupted email -- from "Anna" - "aizzo@home.com" infected with the virus WORM_BADTRANS.B . Thankfully, I have two virus detection systems screening my incomming and the virus was picked up and held quarantined until I could delete the damn thing. ------------------ |
