Well, last March I put my name in for a 2002 Corvette Z06. I was, at that time driving a 2000 Corvette convertible with a Vortech supercharged and intercooled monster motor. I then purchased a 2001 triple Black convertible Vette. I had it for about three weeks when I stopped by my local Chrysler dealer, before I new it, I was driving a PROWLER!!! Since I had just owned 5 C5 vettes in the last 21/2 years, it was a great change. We even took it on a three thousand mile trip through the U.S. I wish we could of kept it also, but we have three brand new cars already and only a two car garage. If I had a normal Corvette coming in, I would of cancelled it and kept the Kat, but this years Z06 is a world beater! It will be nice to get back into some good old fashioned V-8 horsepower! I would like to thank all here at the forum for answering my questions and especially to CJ for picking up the Prowler hat and shirt for Debbie and I, when they come we will be wearing them proudly! I will continue to monitor this web site, just for the fun of it! Thanks again!

Couldn't you have rented a storage place for your extra cars? You are going to miss the Prowler and we will miss you! But keep checking in to say hello! That way, when you figure out you can't do without the Prowler or us, it won't even seem like you didn't have the cat for a little while!!

BTW.....the items are on the way......you know how Canadian mail is! LOL!

Too bad, I think the Vette is second in both of the following catagories.

Fast ----------> Viper - 450hp. (2003-500hp!)
Vette - 405hp

Looks ----------> Prowler all the way.
Too many Vettes on the road, all look about the same, Z06 or not.

I'll once again agree with Andy. Z06 is not the world beater lining up next to a Viper, and will never be.

On a bad day I see 40 Vettes on the road in Phx - on a good day I might see one other Prowler on the road. Guess which one gets the 'look' 'horn' and 'thumbs up'???

Tony and Debbie - your welcome back at any time! See ya driving another Prowler in the future...........

Thanks everyone, it's been a blast owning my Prowler!!
I must disagree with a couple of comments though. If you read EVERY car magazine. The Z06 beats the Viper in all catagories except straight line speed. Believe me, there is more to making a world class performace car than brute acceleration. That being said, I will own a viper one day, I absolutely love them. I will agree, there are lots of vettes out there, but I have never seen a car take a hit on depreciation like the Prowler..OUCH! Oh well, I go through cars faster than most people go through underwear. Cool, I see we just got a nice dump of snow last night!!! I will get my Vette in time to put it away for the winter. Aaaaagh!!!

Have fun in your Chevy. (BARF) Never seen a car take a depreciation hit like the Prowler?? Seems to me like your
buying the king of depreciation. Corvettes loose way more money than any other performance car. Even if Chevy took almost ten years to best the Viper in a couple of race rack stunts, one thing will always be the same, its still just a Chevy. Remember one thing, when you park the Garb-ro-let
next to a Prowler don't get miffed when no one looks at it and the Prowler get all the attention.

As someone that can probably match you car for car trade-in (if not beat you) This year alone I bought a 2001 Prowler, 2001 Porsche, 2001 Mercedes 300E, 2001 Harley Custom, 2001 BMW X5, there is NO car that holds it's value.

Your Prowler may look like it's taking a huge hit right now but, if you'd have bought a 2001 Z06, you would have been hit just as hard. WHY? Because for 2002 the pumped up the h.p., and some other features like heads up, yet kept the price about the same.

Also, buy any vette and see what you get for it trading it in 6 months later. I saw a new 2000 vette convertible being sold for $41K w/ only 5K miles on it. You know the dealer didn't give the person trading it in even $41K (on a $53+K purchase price).

The current economy/recession also has alot to do with pricing (great time to buy, horrible to sell).

And finally, if they are not taking $3K off the sticker of that new vette, you are getting a raw deal. I've found a number of dealers doing that with new vettes[yes, even the great "Z06"] (as well as 60 mos financing with 0% interest)

Tony, check out this article from a GM Performance Magazine which admits the Viper is the ONE. I'm pleased to see they can admit the truth and not try to ignore it like most supercar shootouts who leave out the Viper.

Trade in a couple of those Vettes and get in a Viper and keep the Prowler. You won't be sorry!!

Tony,
As should be obvious...everyone is welcome here...heck, they even let ME hang around!! LOL

Hmmmm, 2002 Z06...lucky dog! Not my bag, personally, but I'll always take a stop and look at ANY Vette! The whole Vette vs. Viper vs. Yugo thing is too much for me. It is merely a function of time. Viper surpasses Vette...Vette catches up...Vette surpasses Viper...Viper catches up..Yugo goes out of business...Viper surpasses Vette...well, you know the rest. If one, or more, wasn't pushing the others there'd be nothing!! LOL

In the end, all that matters is that you are happy. Prowler, Vette, Viper...all GREAT cars I'd like to have one of each....but I'll settle for more Vipers! There is a passion we all have...not one thing wrong with that!

Best of luck to you!

PS to Andy..that was an 01 Z06 they ran against Joe's GTS...not an 02. Tony might be able to fill in about the differences (I don't follow them that closely). Darn good article though. I spoke to Joe right after they did the test and he laughed and told me HE got in his car and ran in the high 12's (or something like that)! LOL I always find it amazing how much difference the driver can make!! ME? Heck, I'd be lucky to see mid-13's!! LOL

Cat a tonic: This is my sixth vette, Depending on model at the dealership where I am buying them, I have averaged 8 thousand dollars (Canadian) each time I upgraded to the new year Vette. My Prowler (which I bought for $65,000 canadian) I am paying $23,500 for the Z06 ($72,240) The best I could find for a value on the Prowler was $47,000, I even talked to the Brokers, trying to get more. Four dealerships would not even deal with me. Those are facts.
Go look through some of the threads, here at this site, there are lots of discussion on the big hits the Prowlers are taking. Dealers are sending them back to the factory. Every Z06 up here in Canada, is either spoken for or is sold immediatley upon landing at the dealership.

HI HO SILVER- Same thing, I have been a guy trading in Vettes 6-12 months later, I know what hit they are taking and it's not bad. I know all hi perf cars are lower right now because of what has happened in the world. My buddy traded his Z06 in on a 2002 Z06 and all he paid differance was $11,000 (Canadian, not bad at all. His 2001 Z06 was on the dealership lot for three days and it sold. Also to make this deal work my dealership (after a long battle) dropped the price of my Z06 $4350.00 to keep my business.

ANDY R I am not going to go looking for posts from forums, if you read the major car magazines, you know what i am talking about. Remember we are talking about a car $45,000 (Ccanadian) cheaper than the Viper.

VIPERMAD Well, you are absolutley right, they are all great cars, they all have good things and bad things. Like I said, I will very likely trade my Z06 in on a Viper next fall. I want this body style, not the next generation one. I think they made it too subtle looking for me. (I like the Power though!!!!!) Anyways, thanks and I do enjoy reading everything here.
