Does any one out there have any idea how well or poorly a stock Prowler handles in light and / or heavy snow? ------------------ |

Are you crazy?? Would you risk such as beautiful machine to the snow! Remember you cannot control those other folks on the road!! Once hard foot and a slip and there goes the Prolwer!!I would leave it home and opt for an SUV! TreyB |

It will handle like any other rear wheel sports car. Ever drive a convertible camaro, firebird, or vette in the snow. This If you can stay away from trucks that kick up the road salt and maybe wash it often, you'll be good ------------------ |

I wouldn't ever try a Kat in the snow. Even starting off in 3rd gear it would be hard to keep the rear end from sliding around. The major problem, like Al said, is the XXXX from anything in front that will sandblast the front of your Kat. We get ours out in the winter but only when everything has melted off and the roads are completely clear. It may be below freezing, but it's safe. ------------------ |

Rich or not treyb, buying a Prowler in a half winter state as an all year vehicle is just really an attack of the dumbass. Sorry bro! ------------------ |

Someone purchased a Prowler and drove it from DC I believe to the mid west somewhere through some heavy snow. This was in a post about a year ago. They indicated the Prowler did well. I had a Triumph Spitfire in 1978 in Utah. The car drove better in snow with regular tires than most other cars even with snow tires ie. better traction. I think it had something to do with independent rear suspension. I don't see myself ever driving mine in the snow, but two concerns would be the width of the rear tires and snow packing between the tires and front fenders. ------------------ |

I am not rich either! I am also very glad other non-rich people have bought their dream car --The Prowler-- I live in Wisconsin right near Lake Michigan. "we call it the snow belt" I scraped some dollars together to get a winter beater so I can protect my dream car. I hope you get either a light snow winter or a really good deal on a real cheep winter car. take care tsf... |

Ive driven my prowler through it all and as long as you use the autostick to pull out you wont have any problems. In my opinion this is one of the best handling rear wheel drive cars i have ever had. I mean, if the rear starts to get out from behind you then just get off the gas and the car will just instantly straighten itself out. Its really great. I bought my car in the snow and drove it home in the snow. The only thing i do do though is polish the from every couple months and i wash the car everyday if i am driving through the snow. ------------------ Amsoil Engine and Tranny Fluid |

Ben - just got back from vacation and read your "dumbass" comment. I think that is exactly what it is. Everybody has their own views on their cars and what they do with them; be it drive it daily vs. weekends only, trailer it to events or drive there, modify it or keep it stock. There are a lot of people with cars that cost a lot more than a Prowler driving their cars in the snow. I would rather drive my car in the snow and throughout the winter than have something else and not drive a Prowler at all, if that was my only choice. JMO but I think your comment was uncalled for - everyone is entitled to do what they decide is best for themselves just as you are entitled to your "dumbass" comment and opinion. Spyder - if you can afford to buy a "beater" that would probably be a good choice. For me, I will rely on either my wife driving me to the office on the worst weather days or the kindness of some co workers who have already volunteered to pick me up on snow days. What ever you choose, it is your decision and you shouldn't be subjected to ridicule for whatever you decide is best for your situation. And sooooo I see the banter continues..... My opinion is.... Priorities got all mixxxed up and in the wrong place. I live in a winter state, CO, and most certainly would not have purchased a Prowler if it was my only car to drive. I don't need to call any one a dumba$$ or any other names... I just would have got an inexpensive car to drive while the snow flies, as I could never subject my Prowler to the snow intentionally. Hey for $1500.00 or so you can get a winter vehicle and preserve your Prowler...if you don't I don't care how it handles...whats more important is the damage you will do to the "Fair Weather" Prowler. JMO See you all at the upcoming Rocky Mountain event...remember to vote...go to the event section. Alex ------------------ |

Spyder, I am the self proclaimed "poorest Prowler owner". I am in the Air Force stationed in Oklahoma City, OK. It doesn't snow a bunch here, but it DOES snow. I bought a 78 Camaro as a second car. I would HIGHLY recommend you do the same. I only paid $500 for her. I personally would never "choose" to drive my Kat on snow. She means too much to me. No matter how well you drive and how good she handles, you STILL have to worry about people hitting you. Good luck, and PLEASE buy a second vehicle. ------------------ |

Spyder; I've owned my Kat for some three years now, and living in Washington State,on the Olympic Peninsula, we do experience our fair share of snow. I've never once even thought about taking the Kat out in that white crap --- that's what they make pick-up's and other 4-wheel-drive's for. With the wide rear tires and tread design, you won't get very far in snow -- or rather just far enough to get into trouble. Buy a beater or a snowmobile or a quad-runner -- anything, but don't drive the Kat in the snow. ------------------ |

I have no "intentions" of driving my kat in snow and I have been, and currently still am, looking for a second ride. I merely asked the question to find out what the worst case scenario might be. ------------------ |
