Still can't believe some people act the way they do towards a prowler. Yesterday, I am sitting at my office desk and I see a spectator admiring my RED kat. I am always looking (paranoid as I am) if someone gets near my Kat. I see this guy kick my tires a few times....then he kicks my bumpers (checking how solid?). By the time I scramble to the car, he just slowly walks away! Am I a bit over-protective of my car (or) would you get upset if you saw some guy kicking your bumpers? |

Looking (admiring) is one thing, kicking is another!! I have had two incidents this week. At my daughter's high school soccer game some kids were checking out the tires/rims - so I thought. The next morning, my logo caps were missing. Last night while tailgating at a Univesity of Louisville football game I turned around and there was a guy sitting in my car with the door open pointing out something to his girlfriend who was leaning over the door with her belly button ring against the paint. Luckily it did not leave a scratch - especially on my new flames!!! I know that with my car being a daily driver it will be exposed to more of these types of situations than those Prowlers that are only driven on weekends or on cruises, etc. and I accept that as part of owning/driving the car as I do. Some people just don't have a clue. Some just don't care. I am glad those types are the minority. The vast majority Happy Prowling Marty

Absolutely I would be upset if someone was kicking any part of my car. And as for someone sitting in it, that is one of the reasons I lock my Kat even with the top down. I also roll up the windows. This minimizes people leaning over to look in. ------------------ |

The part that upsets me the most is when people try to look in the windows while it is parked. Because my windows are tinted so dark, they have to go right up to the car and cup their hands around their eyes to see in. Walking by and just looking in is one thing, but touching the car in any fashion and going out of the way to look inside the car are invasions of my property and my privacy and are not tolerated. ------------------ • MTD Prowler Intake System 2.1 With EGR Bypass Kit Future Mods: This message has been edited by William Gallagher on 10-05-2001 at 11:18 AM |

I have had two incidents in the three years I have had the Cat. The first one occurred in October of '98. The car was parked at a cruise, top up, but drivers side window was down to avoid the cupped hand marks on the glass. I walked away for a short time and someone stuck an ice cream cone above the visor and smashed it against the top. That was a real mess to clean up. Second incident was this year. I was standing by the car and a lady leaned over to look in the car. Top was down, windows were down. She was holding a cup of Coke with no lid. When she leaned over....so did the cup. The Coke went down inside the door all over the glass and inside door panel. People just have no brains around other people's cars. ------------------ |

For all the above reasons, I still love the alarm that says "Please Step Away From The Vehicle!". The old proximity sensor at work... ------------------ |

I was at a cruz night deal and sitting away from the car and heared 2 guys say." that thing has a motor out of the 300M." So when they walked by me I said, "that thing doesn't look like a 300M now does it and BTW is does the 1/4 mile in the 12's?" ------------------ GaryC@ProwlerOnline.com Diesel Ram Truck: 481.5 HP/ 951.2 Ft Lbs of Torque 14.17 ET 97.07 MPH |

Damn...I am sitting at my window today and watching 3 people get into a Jag sedan. One on a cell phone, one with cup of coffee, and one with a load of books, and I see my co-worker now has two dings on his new truck door from two of the three morons. It is frickin amazing how many inconsiderate people roam the earth!! |

Hey Marty & Joe--& everyone else----I think I've maybe got the topper story re: this sort of activity. About 3 months after getting my Prowler, I participated in a street car & custom show. I had been complaining to a friend about all the people leaning on-touching etc, so he gave me an 8X11 inch poster that stated in bold print "Unless your NUDE don't touch the car!" I had no sooner placed the sign on the windshield than a long-haired, smoked-up free-spirited hippie chick in a long sun-dress walked up to the car--read the sign, stepped back--pulled the dress off over her head and laid down across the hood of the Prowler! Frankley, I was speechless for a couple of seconds---my 'ol heart isn't used to this sort of thing anymore. I found my voice and went ballistic. Her response was--"well your sign said don't touch unless your NUDE---soooo--" Anyway, the guy's with her hauled her *** off before I could do anything else. The next day, I had a "top-end" proximity alarm with a verbal warning installed. I wanted one that I could program my own "special & unique" message -- but the shop said that those units had been taken off the market--for obvious reasons. Along with the alarm, I also carry a baseball bat, and I am more than willing to use it. At car show's, I've been known to sit next to the car with the alarm on and the bat right next to me. Havn't had any further problems! ------------------ |

Joe - no way is anyone going to kick my car without hearing something from me about it. That is over the top. He may have been checking to see if you have a sensor alarm that would detect movement - either trying to set it off or planning something for the future... that's me paranoid - but look at the people I hang out with all day and all the stuff I get to see! I wouldn't let him next to the car ever again! ------------------ |

Harry........YOU WIN!!! LOL! Joe......had I caught that guy kicking the tires and the bumpers on my cat.......I would have caught up with him and kicked his a$$! People are unbelievable. When the company I worked for did the Plymouth Prowler Roadshow for Chrysler, I handled the program. Went to a fair number of events. We carried on the rig, one of the million dollar prototype Prowlers. It was displayed on a tilted stand (so they could see inside)with a mirror underneath the car (so they could see the undercarriage, etc.) and with big tubular rails around the stand to keep people at a distance. It never failed. People would actually climb over the rails to get close to the car to take pictures. They tried to climb in the car to sit in it. We also had signs on all four sides of the stand saying "Do Not Touch". Obviously, 50% of the American population does not know how to read! We also had other Plymouth vehicles in the display area. One time, we found an entire family in one of the minivans sleeping! Another time, we found 2 guys and their girlfriends having a picnic in the minivan! ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! If someone kicked our Kat, I'd go ballistic and would probably have to be restrained. There's not much we can do about the small percentage of numbskulls. We seldom park our Kat unattended and never in a regular parking space. We drive it a lot including running errands, but usually keep it in sight. So far--15 months-we've been lucky. ------------------ |

I guess my RED kat is just a magnet to abuse. Let's recap: Last year in West Palm Beach, the top was slit in what I believe was an attempt to steal the car. A belt buckle rub at a car show on the passenger door. Last week a guy kicks the bumpers and over the weekend.......
No...it did not hit the car, but came too damn close. No, I did not park near the cart return. Not sure how the cart got so far away from the store and close to my car...but makes me think what is gonna happen next to the car. Oh, supposed to go to West Palm Beach in two weeks, stay tuned. |

Joe.... I'm with you RED does seem to atract more idiot's. I have had at least 5 insidences with people. Once I was in getting fit for my new suit, I look outside 2 old guy's one kicking the front bumper the other one holding onto the drivers seat rollbar shaking the seat for all it's worth, I ran outside in my socks and holding up my new pants, freaking out big time saying new words I made up on the way through the store, to my suprize they started giving me -hit for showing off driving a car like it and what gives me the right too have a car like that, won't repeat my answers to that, Another time a guy around my age was kicking the bumper left scuff marks on it I kicked his fat $ss from behind he din't see it coming then it got really ugly after that, he coughed up $100.00 for my deductable or police man was coming plus the ambulance for him. One time I parked it way out of the way at our starbucks coffee place tons of room in the lot for 50 plus cars what does this girl do park right beside it so close before I could get up she just shoves the door open bang into the rear fender at the top of it a scuff about 1 plus inches long on my brand new 2 day old paint job well once again the 666 came out in me then she said she never hit it even though her door had red paint on it and I had green paint on mine, within 2 minutes she was in tears called her aunt who came down and her aunt had the nerve to tell me it was just a scratch and it was just a car she also paid the 100.00 deductable to me. I just have no patients for people who can't respect other's car's or whatever it may be, I have taken down licence #'s of people who back into cars and drive away and leave it on the window of the vehicle they hit or go and find the people and give it to them. Well that felt good to get off my chest sorry folks for the long venting. PK |

hey guy's I might have you all beat, well we all no people can be idiot's, they have no respect for themselves so they figure it's not mine so what, for the most part people just admire, I've done alot of work to my kat, and most people appreciate it, which is cool, but then you get that one that just didn't make it to the brain station in time? Well we were at a car-show this past weekend and there was a marilyn monroe impersonator there and my father figured hey get some pictures of her next to the car, (catch that NEXT!) and someone was talking to me and I turned away, and as my father was getting ready to take picture, she get's up on the hood and put's her foot on the fender! well I yelled in a kindly manly way! and she slid off the car and said sorry, this car is really slippery, you must wax it often, well gotta go back to the base? Any you guy's get, hey is this a kit car and I tell them yah it use to be a volkswagen, and there like woh dude nice job? Or another guy ask's (what kind of car is this?) and I reply "Plymouth Prowler" and get well who makes it? and you tell him again and he reply's (Oh, It's one of those new S.U.V.'s) well who else out there got some beauties? |

Keith-- Both Donna and I would react in about the same way. Thank you for sharing what happened. Donna said it is probably jealousy, which is their stupidity because what counts to most Prowler people is the love of a beautiful vehicle--the essence of car. The peabrains who purposely damage a Prowler either truly have dinky brains or are jealous whimps who attack anything they think is more valuable and know nothing about cars. They are like Osama Bin Whimp who is jealous of Americans and knows nothing about religion. ------------------ |

I had a dirtbag open his door with an old Aires at the mall. I knew it was his passenger because ot hit my driver's door. I checked the door angle and it matched his door exactly, even had my paint on his door! So, to make this even, i gave him a key job from the front left signal light to the rear tail lights! This car was so bad off that I don't think he even noticed and thought it was from his drunken binge the night before. It was my best one ever. The other great experience was in Italy with our F50. Some woman wanted a pic with the car, I said sure, no prob. I turn around and she is laying on the flat part of the driver's door with both feet off the ground! I flipped out and asked her to leave and not to let me see her or her boyfriend around my car before I taser them both! Some people should be executed on site, maybe it's too much punishment? ------------------ 2000 Prowler Woodward Edition (red/black-USA) |
