Alright guys a few questions that I have not been able to find with the search engine. Is there a difference in build quality between the ply. and Chr. prowlers. I have found the perfect car a 2002 gold prowler, no miles at a local dealer that I have delt with before. What luck. Asking price is 49,000 but they will accept msrp. Any clue as to how good a deal this is, the reason that I ask is that one of the other dealers in san deigo is asking close to 65,000 no negotiation no test rides before purchase. I will be one of the much younger drivers in the group at 20 anybody my age mind giving me a range on insurance. No accidents not even a parking ticket if that helps. I willl be leasing the car as I ted to sell my cars after about 3 years and I have had very good luck with leases. The payment quoted using the Chry web site is 520 a month with no money down and a 7% apr 15000 miles on the lease. Sound decent, how close do you think i can get to this number when going into the dealer, the price is not the concern but if they come back with 700 with the same guidlines anbody know why. hanks for the help I live in san diego and would like to get together with some owners when and if I get my cat. |

weatherman - No difference in Plymouths and Chryslers, although I was led to believe that quality control has improved each year while going through the CAAP tour in August. BTW - my first day tour guide was named Sondra, who is the water leak tester on the production line, and she assured me that she does NOT pass them if they fail her water test. I told her not to mention that to the others on the tour that day!!! ------------------ |

Keep in mind that the price will varyu by geography. 65K is way over priced and I hope they don't find a sucker to buy it. Qite frankly the market is soft right now. Brand new Muholland's here in Georgia have been going for as low as $39,900. MSRP is a good deal but not a great deal at this time. JMO ------------------ |

When I was doing my internet shopping a year ago for my 2001 I found that CA and Fla were the most expensives areas to buy. If at all possible, look for some dealer outside of the major Ca metro areas or even in AZ or Nev. I drove 200 mi to Nebraska and bought mine a MSRP when dealers in Kansas City wanted way more than that! Find a high volume dealer and the price will be less. You can service it locally w/o problems I am sure. Maybe some SD member will tell you where they have it serviced. Good luck. ------------------ |

Just a update. Got off the phone with a finance guy at the dealership. Apr is about 3.55% now but they said that they could most likly do a lot better then that. They said the payments no money down would be around 540 if I rool the first moths payment into the lease, not bad, about what i was going to pay for a corvette/used viper payment. Just one silly question, does the brake petal depress when you turn on oyour car a little bit, I just can't get my foot in there ery well and the dealersrefuse to let me test drive the car before I sign the papers saying I agree to the price and have full finance support. Its a big pain in the but but expected. More questions though. I can not get a breafcase in the back truck with the top up, I knew that storage on these cars was a problems but man there is no space anyware. I have another car for trips to home depot so I am not really worried. |

Actually, there is a BIG difference between Plymouth's and Chrysler's. The part number and manufacturer is the same to my knowledge, but the Chrysler is DRAMATICALLY smoother and faster then a 2001 Plymouth, which is faster and smoother then a 2000 Plymouth. Finance wise... that's an incredible deal, my interest is 13.9% and have 3 payments totally $3500! ------------------ |

Storm - contact Eric Lee at Latham Motors. That dealership is in Twin Falls, Idaho but he may be able to beat that deal - including shipping to your door. I think I read he either has a gold or is getting one. There is a link to Latham Motors off the home page. He gave me an incredible deal that no other CA dealer could beat. If you pull this deal - I think you will be the first on POA to own a gold. I don't think the pedal depress's much without the braking process starting. There are a couple of Big Feets here on POA - they could answer that question better. You can always get the weekender from Real Rod to solve the briefcase problem. Good Luck and welcome to POA ------------------ This message has been edited by CWatsonJr on 09-23-2001 at 06:51 PM |

Instead of a briefcase I carry a leather laptop case as a brief case. Its packed full and fits in the trunk either with the top up or down. I have never noticed about the pedal. ------------------ |

You may have heard about me! I am a Prowler owner, I am located in the San Deigo area and I am 115 years old. I purchased my car locally at Bob Baker Chrysler in Carlsbad. MSRP is always a fair price for a speciality car. That price gives them less than $3,000 profit and is about as good as it gets. You may be able to get a little lower but with the new gold color I doubt it. I did not lease as at my age, anything longer than a week is dangerous as a financial term and, therefore, I bought mine. I am not sure about lease prices so I would simply say to be careful as it is easy to throw in anything including the kitchen sink and it is difficult to tell. There are several other members located in the San Diego area. Gary has the fast one, so if you have the opportunity to talk to him you can learn a lot about modifications. I am talking about his car and not his girl friend, who I am told is also quick! I am pretty much stock but mine usually comes equipped with some sort of great looking honey that comes from the loacl Home Depot or similar establishment. They just seem to be attracted to me due to my incrediable good looks, tight body, charming personality and fat wallet! In any case, the purchase of the Prowler will be a positive highlight in your life and I assure you that it will be an enjoyable experience. I have to go now as Bush is on the other line asking for my advise of how to wage gas warfare as I have some experience with that due to the injestion of a bean about a week ago. This particular bean has been rattling around in my intestines for almost ten days and the effects have been unusual to say the least. Good luck with your purchase and, as always, be careful what you step in. Scot ------------------ This message has been edited by Scot Stern on 09-23-2001 at 07:43 PM |

Going to give the dealers you suggested a call, If anybody in california on the board or near has a car to sell give me a ring at cohencar@bwn.net The reason that I started looking at the prowlers is there is one right across the street from my office building that I oggle on the way to work everday, its a grey one parked in the LGB train shipping yard. On nancy ridge road. So if thats you, give me a shout. |

StormBringer, boy did you get off on the wrong foot. You called a SILVER cat grey!!! JD will be all over you, if his car is STILL running. The people with the silver cats already had an inferiority complex, (or at least they should have) and then you rub their noses in it. You will be a lot better off buying outside of SD or LA, in all probability. You should definitely be able to find one under $45 K, I would think. Good luck finding it, take your time and shop around, it will be worth it to save several thousand bucks. Red is the best color, by the way. lol |

You mentioned that you wanted to know what insurance would be like for a youngster like yourself. Well I don't know how it is out west but here in New Hampshire/Massachusetts it will run a little tike like yourself $1,800 a year. I don't know if you California drivers are any better at not hitting stuff and following posted speed limits. Surprised you couldn't get a test drive. They didn't want to let me drive mine, but I looked the guy in the eye and told him I wasn't joking. I put 23 miles on it that day and bought it the next. ------------------ |

Storm----I am just about positive that Latham Motors in Twin Falls, Idaho sells more Prowlers than any other dealer in the country. If anyone can cut you a deal, they can. If you are familiar with the publication "duPont Registry" for cars, they always have several Prowlers listed in there and Latham, along with several other dealers have large adds on the Prowlers. As for insurance, well, as I have several cars, boat, motorcycle, atv, house etc. insured with the same company for almost the entire 100 years and am accident free(I'm an excellent driver) & no tickets and am well in excess of 100 yrs of age (eat your heart out Scott)my insurance is negligible. You might try telling the ins. co. you are only going to drive it to & from work thus low/reduced milage rates. Good luck Harry (cantankerous 'ol Fart) ------------------ |
