My wife needed some craft supplies...

It was one of those beautiful late summer afternoons in rural upstate New York. My wife asks if I will take her to get some craft supplies in Cortland NY and then out to dinner on the way back. Of course, out comes the shiny red '99 Prowler and we head to Cortland through some of the prettiest rural coutryside you could imagine. We arrive at the store in a snopping mall and I stay in the Prowler while she goes in the store. This young boy (10-11 yrs old) comes out of the store and stops dead in his tracks. He says "could I look at the Prowler if I promise not to get too close"? I asked if he would like to sit in it...he says he would love it. Boy gets in, huge grin comes on his face and he is in heaven. His mother comes out of the store and says he is a Prowler fanatic. Thanks me so much for allowing her son to sit in and look at the car. Some small talk and they go away with a new experience to tell everyone about. I'm feeling quite good about what just occurred and all of a sudden, this kid jumps out of a moving minivan and runs to the car with his hand out to shake mine and says..."I can't believe it. I've seen these in pictures but never thought I would ever see one in person. This is the coolest car on the planet!" As you might imagine, I asked if he would like to sit in it. He thinks I am kidding..."are you serious?" he says. He carefully sits down and again, this huge grin comes over his face. At this time, another young fellow jumps out of the minivan which is stopped by this time and he comes over. Again, would you like to sit in it?...same thing...the big grin!! Some Prowler talk and then the mother calls them and they thank me so much and run back to the minivan jabbering their heads off to each other. Now I'm feeling real good! My wife comes out of the store and says she's sorry it took so long. I tell her it didn't seem that long at all. We have a nice dinner and then head home about 7:30 pm. The sun is casting long shadows over the verdant hills and fields as we make our way home. The road is smooth and the air filled with the smells of summer and new mown grass and corn ripening in the field. There is peace in the world and life is good! Enjoy it whenever you can and share your good fortunes with others! This is what makes life worth living...!!!

Thanks for sharing, you most definetly made those boys very happy. I did the same for a boy who approached me and asked if I'd take his picture standing next to my Kat. CJ was there, and said "Let him sit in it Alex". With no hesitation, I told the boy to get in the drivers seat. I took his picture in the drivers seat and I'm sure he has it on his bedroom wall to show all his friends. The Prowler is a special car for special people. Sharing is the fun part for us.

I've had my cat for 3 years and I have to tell you that those experiences and the feelings that go with them never diminish. It has never bothered me when anyone asks me about the car, if they can look, etc.......for me, it's a perk. Life is good.

Alex was very gracious to let that teenage boy sit in his cat. The boy really liked the orange, that's why he chose Alex's cat to get his pic with. Sitting in that cat, the boy looked like he'd died and gone to heaven! Hmmm, come to think of it, we were close enough! We were on top of Trail Ridge Road at over 13,000 feet!!

You could see the kid's head reeling.........Prowler.......
girlfriend.......me.........prom.......cool.........WOW!!

Way to go, Alex!

I have allowed a number of people to sit in the Cat. Some for pictures, some just to sit. I know when I was a kid, I got turned away more than once by adults that didn't want kids near their cars. I swore I would never do that.

Yup it's hard to say no to some young person that is so pumped up seeing the car and having you take the time to tell them all about it. I've lost count of how many kids I've let sit in the Kat so far. When my 11 yr old grand daughter asked me if I'd come and pick her up from school one day man in the prowler, man I think there was 100 kids all asking me questions all at the same time and all I was doing was looking for the boy friend lol. Not to many cars get the attention our Kat's do that's for sure.
But of course having a RED 99 really gives us the edge in that deptment lol......
