Well, it appears no one has brought it up.

There was a hat killer in Woodward this year. That nomination goes to Silver Bullet for crushing JohnS's Viper Hat. John Davies went around Cj's Durango and not sure if it was on purpose but he slammed JohnS's favorite Viper hat into the rear latch of Cj's Durango. He not only did it onces, but about 4 or 5 times. He made sure that hole in JohnS's hat would be permanent.

You thought you were going to get out of this one hugh Silver Bullet.

Later...

As the torch is passed from one "Hat Killer/Purse Crusher/Hat Crusher/etc" to another, the saga unfolds:

Larry Salzman - June, 2000 - Larry Lord's hat ran over. Went into surgery and was repaired to ride again. Defendent found NOT GUILTY, Plaintiff held responsible.

Gary Cleverley - August, 2000 - David's new POA hat killed. No contest plea, found guilty.

Paul Rosenburg - June, 2001 - Texas Trailer Massacre, Jody's expensive pillows left defenseless on highway for 18 wheelers to crush. As usual, placing blame on others Charges waiting to be filed.

Marc Scarbeary - July, 2001 - CJ's NEW purse crushed. Many destroyed cosmetic items, tire marks on new purse. Defendant pleaded innocent (don't they all), later found guilty! Scheduled hanging, Oct. 2004

Bob Longstreth - July, 2001 - AlleyCat's 12-pak Pepsi, launched into orbit from S.Dakota. New home for NASA. Plaintiff opted not to press charges at that time. Case still open.

Rich Ware - August, 2001 - Longstreth's water bottle crushed. No harm, No foul. Given another. Refused to pay for previous bottle crushed. Jury still out with verdict.

John Davies - August, 2001 - John Schultz' prise Viper hat crushed FIVE times. GPS out looking for a replacement, will triple his cost, and pass along (scam) that $$$ figure to JD. Punishment - lose three races to Dan Pena, and claim he tried to win.

Larry Lord - Sept., 2001 - Larry flattens poor little squirrel trying to cross the road - what a mess! Then he wants to mail the carcass to me in Az to dry rot and stinks. Larry, FYI - our sheriff, Joe Arpaio >toughest in the west< feeds roadkill to the inmates.

BRING IT ON!

The curse continues:

Who will be the new "Weakest Link"???

Stay tuned..........................................

Oh, but wait! There is another guilty party............

John Schulz's car was very dirty by the time he got to my house, so we (Rich, John Davies and I) talked him into cleaning it up before we headed for Woodward! We certainly didn't want him embarassing us!!

Rich had a bottle of water that he sat on the driveway, while he was doing a little clean-up of his own. He decided to move his cat further up the driveway to give them both some extra space. Forgetting the bottle was there, he drove directly over it, leaving in his path a totally smashed flat water bottle. The water had squirted out the top when the wheels rolled over it and it left a perfect tread mark in front of the bottle continuing underneath the wheel! JohnS took pictures, I didn't have my camera handy.

We did, however, christen Rich Ware "The Bottle Smasher"!!

JohnS...........we need your pictures!

As we left the parking lot of the restaurant where we had lunch, I noticed the warning light for the rear door being open was ringing. John D got out to run around and re-close the door. Dan's description was pretty accurate as to John's attempt(s) to close the rear hatch.

John..........I can still see you trying to figure out why the door hatch would not close! You just kept slamming it and slamming it and slamming it...........until you noticed the hat brim sticking out the bottom. It was way too funny and I can still see Rich laughing so hard I thought he was going to split a gut! Poor JohnS looked like he was going to have a heart attack - he said that was his favorite hat. I believe he said it was his father's??

Okay...........JD, Rich, Dan and JohnS.........I need help!

Seems to me that during that week there was a third crime committed.........I just can't remember what it was. First it was the "Hat Crusher", then the "Bottle Smasher" and I know there was something else. Do you guys recall another "incident"? Help me out here, as we don't want that person to go unrecognized on Larry's list (unless, of course, it was something I did that I have deliberately blocked from my mind! LOL!) C'mon........'fess up!!!

How could you forget! It was your Diet Pepsi (AKA wheel chock). It went off like 4th of July fireworks. I won't mention who was involved but he got a huge laugh out of it.

CJ, Like JD I was hoping the bottle incident was forgotten.
It was a nearly full bottle of water that Bob had just given me and I was very thirsty. Thankfully you took pity on me and offered me another I was too embarresed to ask. About the hat incident I felt bad laughing so hard about John's hat but I could not help myself. I don't know if John knew whether to laugh or cry. Third incident? humm racking my brain trying to figure out what it was. If I remember I will post it.

Laddie............you're right! I don't know if everyone heard the story, so I am going to post the expose' right here!

The date: Thursday, July 5, 2001

The place: A parking lot in Deadwood, SD

The incident: Bob Longstreth was on a mission...that he chose to accept. The mission.......get back to Deadwood as quickly as he could to get his car trailer. A silver cat lay dead on the road somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming. A group of cat owners were on their way to Devil's Tower........but the Devil caught up with the silver cat long before we got there. As the silver cat was cruising along the highway as fast as it's legs would carry it, something stopped the silver cat in its tracks! It lay in the road, smoke and fluids and guts everywhere. The life was draining right out of that cat. The rest of us pulled off the road at one of those historic site pull-offs, wondering what had happened. The historic site sign said "Custer's Expedition". The silver cat pulled itself up and limped over to the pull-off. Attempting to hang on, it was trying not to lose one of those nine lives that cats seem to have. As it lay there mortally wounded, everyone sprang into action! CPR (Cat Powertrain Revival) was administered to no avail! John Ross offered to go back to Deadwood to get his cat trailer, but Bob declined the offer. He didn't want John's brand new trailer to get blood and guts all over the floor. So, CJ and Bob jumped into her Black Cat (and we know that Black Cats are the baddest and the fastest!) and raced back to Deadwood, managing to make the one hour return trip in 40 minutes (which confirms that the black cat is the fastest). The black cat screeched to a halt in front of the hotel. As Bob raced to his room to retrieve phone numbers for the "hospital" and the "organ donor bank", CJ ran over to the parking garage to retrieve the ambulance which was disguised as a black Durango (is there a pattern here?). They both raced over to the parking lot to retrieve the (black) gurney. As CJ pulled into the lot, she noticed that there was a 12-pack of Pepsi sitting behind the wheels of the "gurney". They were in too big of a hurry to worry about it, she figured someone had left some empty cans underneath the trailer. They quickly hooked up the "gurney" to the "ambulance". CJ jumped back into her black cat and radioed Bob to head out, forgetting, of course, about the Pepsi cans! As Bob took off, he rolled right over those cans.........they weren't empty ones! It was a sight to behold! 12 warm and full Pepsi cans exploded like the fireworks we had watched the night before! It looked like 12 Roman candles rocketing into the sky, spinning wildly out of control, Pepsi spewing everywhere! CJ radioed Bob to look out his window. He described it later as it looking like 12 Silver Bullets exploding and hoping that none of them would hit the black cat!! There was no time to stop and retrieve the empty shells. Time was of the essence! They raced back to rescue the silver cat and all of the people who were attending to it, trying to keep it alive! It was hot out there and CJ and Bob were concerned about the humans, too. They brought food and water and sodas for the people attending to the cat. When they arrived back on the scene they found that in spite of the CPR (Cat Powertrain Revival), the silver cat had lost one of it's lives. They gently put the silver cat on the gurney and headed to Rapid City, the site of the organ donor bank. It was a sad sight......as they drove off. The rest of us re-grouped and headed back, in what felt like a funeral procession, to Crazy Horse. Our thoughts were with the silver cat and its owner and we all hoped that the organ transplant would restore the life of the silver cat............

I am happy to report that after keeping the cat on life support until an organ donation could be found, the cat is alive again and running around faster than ever and the owners smile is bigger than ever too!! He is happy that his silver cat is alive and well! The Silver Bullet lives!!

NOTE: I wanted to say that I mean no disrespect by this post in light of the situation of Denny Angel. It is only an attempt at some light-hearted humor. We all continue to hold Denny and his family in our thoughts and pray for his full recovery.

I don't know if Bob remembers, but I was present when the full cans of Pepsi were placed by the trailer wheels. We had just recently arrived on Monday when Bob pulled in and was unloading "supplies" from the Durango. I believe he had just returned from his first "mercy" run to Rapid City. I walked down and introduced myself (having spoken to Bob previously online, but had never met). I noticed that one of the Pepsi cans was leaking. At that point, Bob picked the cans up and set them by the trailer wheels. And that's the rest of the story.

Paul R. - How could we forget? You are now added above to the "Hall of Shame". You didn't post here, hoping we would forget the Texas Trailer Massacre, but my shallow brain went to work thinking there must be more stories lurking. You may get out of this one if you promise Jody a second honeymoon, location of her choice??? Sleep tight with those new pillows

Larry Lord, that reminds me, the above described crown jewel of a hat was auctioned off last year at WDC charity raffle. I had heard something way back then about it being signed by DC top brass and being reauctioned off at this year's WDC raffle. Didn't see it there, and wanted to get a bid in on it, since it carries the AlleyCat's paw mark on it. What ever happened to that hat??? Must be going up in value?
