I've been toying with the idea for a couple of months now about installing a set of chrome lakes pipes on my "01 Prowler. I saw a PT Cruiser with a set and it looked great.
Has anyone seen them on a Prowler?

It would be nice to have a set run through the side panels and exit before the rear wheels. Are the ones you want to be functional? The closest I've seen is the Real Rod side exit
settup.

I think BadKat has a set of side pipes...that's Chuck Kirkpatrick in Georgia. Maybe he will post a picture for you.

Not a problem with several posts related to each other... The one I saw, Joe, was a Red kat.. I have figured out how I want them but would like to see how someone else has done it. No sense re-inventing the wheel.. I found the pipes at JCWhitney for less than $200.00. They also have a set of the functional ones complete with mufflers and heat shields..

BadKat's pipes look good, but I'm looking for the classic, functional lakes pipes that would come out just behind the front wheel well and run to just in front of the rear wheel well, with the removable endcap. I saw a vendor's catalogue with PT Cruiser accessories and they showed a set, but they were the 3/4 length type. No need for mufflers as they weld directly into your header system.
I'm kind of dubious about the quality of JC Whitney's stuff. I'm looking for a quality, show-chromed set.

I ordered the J.C. Whitney Laker Pipes. They are the large 3" pipes. I did not think I could get them on and looking right, so they're still in the box. I opted to have 2.5" polished stainless steel ones made to my specs. I started to use the chrome mesh type covers from the J.C. Whitney Lakers but I thought it took away from the sleek streamlined look. I get more compliments on those custom side pipes than just about anything else.

Chuck, could you post some pictures of your setup? I was thinking of the 3" also but they come with the mufflers too. JCWhitney also sells the smaller 2 1/4" real Lakes pipes with the bolt on covers in 1 opening or 3 openings. If they are used it makes for a straight side pipe exhaust when opened. I'd really like to see how you fastened them to the car.. Thanks..

Guys - there is a Prowler in Glendale, Az with functional headers coming out of the side panels and going down the lower rocker panel sides. I'm trying to get a picture posted from the owner - you will like it, but not the cost.
