Been checking out www.edmunds.com and decided to check value of the prowler according to this website.

I plugged in these (my prowler) specifics:
Year: 1999
Mileage: 5600 miles
zip: 34786
Wheels: Chrome
Color.........Red

By keeping all parameters alike, and only changing color....found that: Red is most valuable color (according to www.edmunds.com).

(Trade-In Figures)Results:

Red: 36,303.
Purple: 35,704.
Yellow: 36,166

Hmmmm, color is so subjective, wonder why this website places a different value on color???

Joe, that's nice but as we all know SILVER is better and its value is $36,490.

Silver not available until (I think) 2000 year?
I think that explains the higher resale value.

I know we tease one another about best prowler color, and that discussion has been hashed over about 1000 times, and as fun as that is, I am still curious why some colors have better resale value than others....anyone know why???

SUPPORT THE BIG RED MACHINE.. Red is the best no doubt about it. JMO though. But as we all will attest to the Prowler is the Best by far no matter what colour.

Joe,
My first thought was that there were fewer red built as that I find weird is that I never see any other red ones on the road and I have never seen a red one on a dealer's lot. I checked to see how many red were built and was shocked to see that red is second highest in quantity, under purple. I have only seen one red one on the road and only see red ones at the events, where red usually seems to have the best turn out. My friends and family never see any other red ones either. My new neighbors didn't think that they came painted red and that I had it custom painted. I don't know how to explain it.

Hmmmm....I'm thinking, the prowler is considered a sports car, a convertible, and in true American fashion, a sports car convertible should be red. But again, that is subjective. I still wonder why an appraisal (value) website would differ when it comes to color.

Bill, I too find it odd that we have mostly red kats turn out to our Florida events. I am glad I really don't see other prowlers roaming the Central Florida streets. I like the rarity of the prowler.

Bill - actually red is the 3rd highest in production behind black and purple. Those silver and orange Chryslers - now those are going to be rare!

Cliff you are correct.

I guess I just did like everyone else usually does and ignore the black ones...

I talked to Woodhouse Dodge about trading my Prowler in on a Viper. I was told that red is currently the least wanted color and is not worth as much as other colors on trade in because dealers have trouble getting rid of them? Granted, he did say that the market for all Prowlers right now is soft, and so I doubt I'll be trading in my Kat any time soon. If anyone knows of a good deal on a late model RT/10, please let me know.

I think color is all personal preference. I have a black cat now. I thinks that when it's clean, black is on of the best color. On a prowler it blends in with the bumpers better than any other color. I will probably be getting a silver on in the next couple of weeks. This is my second favorite, but since it's easier to keep clean, I may end up liking it better.

I like the yellow cat, but without the bumpers. Red was my least favorite color until orange came out. I hope I don't upset anyone, but red and orange are just plain ugly to me. Of course, I saw a picture of the gold one, this will be the worst. But that's just my opinion.

Daryl...

check out the classifieds section of www.viperclub.org for some nice Vipers for sale.

Also, Bill Pemberton at Woodhouse is a great guy to help you. He can be reached at 800-889-1893. Good Luck!

I too want a viper. I am holding onto my prowler. The viper pricing is good (soft) now too.

Oh well, prowler resale values are pretty close among all the colors. I would have thought color would have made no difference in resale appraisals.

color always matters when selling something, which is why I cannot figure out how Chysler ended up with that Inca Gold!

Yeah, well, I'm back now. It's not a matter of ignoring the black ones.....it's realizing that you have to be cool to own a black cat because we all know BLACK IS THE BADDEST and the FASTEST!!! LOL!!!!

How about a 2000 red only 193 made, now that should be real rare?
