I was looking at an old Popular Mechanics from around 1996 and came across the following image:

It appears to be a test vehicle. What I found interesting was that it was painted red. This was before the 1997 purple was even released.

Yes that is the Prangler and in the trade they refer to it as a mule. In the other pictures that I have seen it was green. I understand there was more than one. I understand the Jeep Wrangler was used because of the rear axle placement being so similar to the proposed Prowler.

Hey now C..........no joke, they made like 5 of them to test the drivetrain for the prowler before it went into production. I think 1 was crash tested and who know's what happened to the others????? One ugly ride I think..........
