I was wondering if anyone else had a problem with their factory Prowler Trailer. I had the entire latch/lock assembly break off about 300 miles into my trip to Deadwood. This piece was mounted with fiber glass puddy. I will post some pics later when I get home...boy was I PI$$ED! ------------------ |

Wow Paul,, talk about timing,, I broke the same latch 3 weeks ago and saw how weak it was put on. I had some support brackets made and also a guard over to protect it. (it sticks above the lip of the trailer) Also drilled a 4 inch access hole on the bottom of the trailer and covered it nicely in case the latch assemble got broken while the lid was closed. I may post pics later as the trailer is hidden in the garage for now. It broke as I was putting something inside it and caught the latch. ------------------ This message has been edited by jd2ksilver on 07-09-2001 at 11:31 AM |

Well...as a matter of fact, my right rear light FELL OFF on my way back from Deadwood. It was just glued on. Just fell off and scraped alone the road. ------------------ This message has been edited by jpo350 on 07-09-2001 at 02:11 PM |

Just spoke with my Service Advisor on these problems and he is going to set up a meeting with the DC Regional Rep to look at these problems, especially the lock mech/bracket. I hope that they will address this as a serious problem and I am sure they will take care of all of us. ------------------ |

lost the lock off the trailer at the 1st CAAP tour I went on. No other problems, other than keeping the velcro on to hold the bra and poor fit carpet. I was told they have made improved carpet for the trailer. But since mine was made in march of `98, it sounds like it is still a poor fit. ------------------ |

I had lights put in mine and at that time I used a spray adhesive to keep the carpet in. It works great. Now that the lock assembly came away, we used 6 pop rivots. I lined it up exactly where it broke away, drilled 3 1/8" pilots holes from the inside out and fortunately 4 out of the 6 are hidden by the license plate assemblt. You can see a little of each side top rivots, but I'll tell you it is 1,000 times stronger than it was. DC will have to contact Ajax Trailer and the fiberglass co. that molded these and get it right. Bill- I would file a greivance with DC and let them know what happened. My 5* dealer says that they will get us reimbursed for our losses, but who knows when. ------------------ This message has been edited by PaulR on 07-09-2001 at 06:09 PM |

Paul You would not believe how many complaints DC has about these trailers. TONS & TONS. They will be discontinued this fall. For any others out there with major problems, I would get it settled now, and not wait till they are not being produced any more. |

With just about 10 total miles on my trailer, I've seen none of the problems you have all experienced. You can bet I'm going to take a serious look at it before, I, too, join the ranks of the dissatisfied trailer owners. Thanks to all who posted pix, they're worth a thousand words. ------------------ This message has been edited by Paul on 07-10-2001 at 12:07 AM |

NOT! Pulling it on a flat surface had nothing to do with the lock mechanism on the deck lid. Got the call today from the 5* dealer... they are replacing the entire trailer under warranty! Now that is CUSTOMER SERVICE! Jerry- how about a deal on a slightly used/damaged trailer? ------------------ This message has been edited by PaulR on 07-10-2001 at 06:04 PM |

Your right Paul, Your prowler is stock (motor) and once or twice down the track is not going to hurt the trailer. some people don't have a clue..... Go MIDPARK!!!! ------------------ |

Paul, maybe you could make it a tandem trailer. Just think you could pack twice as much... And, only put the stuff you don't need in the back trailer... Or, Take the deck lid off trailer & turn the old trailer into a chariot... Now, that would be neat to see "Chariot of Prowlers". It would be great for parades or going down straight away.... ------------------ |

I remember riding with you down to the resort and it seems to me you were driving faster down the Interstate than you were down the dragstrip!!!! Also remember you having more trouble with your gas tank door flipping open at high speed than anything with the trailer!!! ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat! |

Hey Paul, is the dealer gonna let you keep the trailer?? I just took my car back to get a front rim replaced b/c it was pitting on the inside and my guy there told me to just keep the rim and when he gets the paper work for the core he was going to mark that the wheel has been scrapped. How does that sound?? Pretty cool....but with your trailer..since they are giving you a new one what are they gonna do with the old one?? Are they gonna let you keep it?? B/c i might be interested in buying it...hehe.... ------------------ Amsoil Engine and Tranny Fluid |

I'm going over there tomorrow. I beleive the manufacturer wants the old one back, but if they want to sell it Cnote is 1st in line. He has a purple '99 right here in Dallas I see all the time, so I think since the same dealership takes care of both of us, they might make him a deal on it AS IS! ------------------ |
