My new orange Kat was dropped off at my doorstep Sunday afternoon. Totally awsome!!! It rides even better than I thought it would. I do have a couple of questions though. I know some people have complained about the hubcaps but sheesh. I was putting on the first coat of Zaino yesterday and barely touched one of the hubcaps and it fell off. All 5 tabs were broken. I glued them back on and one broke again as I put it back on the car. I have mudflaps ordered so I know it won't survive being removed again. I am going to a local dealer to try to have it replaced tomorrow. Also, during her first ride yesterday, my wife noticed a scratch in the edge of the decklid right next to the seat hoop on the driver side. I think the top might be rubbing it when I am putting it up or down. I did a little investigating last night and found some metal shavings in the trunk. I am not sure if they are from the same spot but something is definately rubbing somewhere. Anybody else ever see this? Anyway, I don't mean to gripe, I am just a little picky :-) It really is a great car, turns a lot of heads. -Pete |

Congrats on the new Kat and welcome to the board. Unfortunately, for some reason... there seems to be a high incidence of Prowler problems, often small, but still there. I know I have had to deal with problems on all 3 of mine, and my Orange was bad enough to fall under the lemon law and is getting bought back. I'm sure someone will be posting about similar problems.... ------------------ |

Congrats on the new Cat. The dealer will replace your center cap via warranty. While your at the dealer order front fender flaps. These are a must have. I also highly recommend Raybestos Dustless Brake Pads. (Note for front only). I have no thoughts on the trunk scratch or its cause. ------------------ |

is there a trailer hitch on your cat.if so that could explain the metal shavings. |

You will love the KAT. The top does rub but many here have suggested at the very least to wipe the dust away before putting the top in place. Also, their is a thread here which discusses putting some film strips to avoid the surface scratch. The car is soooooooo cool that you want it to be perfect. Look past the little things if you can, I KNOW it is hard but you still will love the car. Good luck!! |

I have also found small bits of metal shavings in my trunk. I don't know where they are coming from though - I cleaned them out and then found them once again... haven't seen them since I cleaned them out the second time. ------------------ This message has been edited by cwatsonjr on 07-06-2001 at 05:32 PM |

Hey now, the DC warranty is great. I have never had a problem getting things fixed or replaced. Had my chrome rims replaced(chrome chipping on inside barrel, driver side rear fender(crack comming off tail light corner) and the paint matched perfictly, several center caps(broken tabs), hood supports(origional ones were very weak) so don't worry, DC will fix any problems for you............long as you don't have a cracked firewall...............right Todd??? ------------------ |
