Welcome to the Crazy Horse Tour 2001

This event will be run much like the Hot Rod Power Tour which I feel, brings everyone together for a common interest but yet allows freedom to explore on your own and at your own pace. Please do not feel that you need to be present at every cruise or activity that will be going on. Please feel free to plan your own adventures for the days of Tuesday, Wednesday until 1:30 PM when you need to be ready to stage for the parades and Thursday until 4:00 PM when we are planning a group picture at the Crazy Horse Memorial before our tour of the Memorial and dinner.
************************************************************
Please make a special effort to be with the group on July 4th for both the Deadwood and Lead parades. Please be in the Deadwood staging area at 1:30 PM and stay with the group at least until the finish of the Deadwood Show and Shine that ends at 7:00 PM.
Also please try to be at the Crazy Horse Memorial by 4:00 PM so we can get a group picture for the event.
There are no trophies, raffles or scavenger hunts planned for this event.
************************************************************
I’ve tried not to get this event bogged down with too many organized things going on each day. We have three days to explore an area that I’m sure most would like to spend at least two weeks in.
Use the allotted free time to visit the places that YOU want to visit.
Be sure to check the bulletin board in the hospitality suite frequently for scheduling changes, additions, or impromptu cruises that may take place.

The following is a listing of my plans for our Julie and I at the event.
The bold listings are the ones that I ask you to make a special effort to attend.

July 2, 2001 Monday Hospitality Suite 6:00 until 10:00 PM

July 3, 2001 Tuesday, Badlands National Park / Pioneer Auto Museum / Wall Drug / Rapid City 8:00 AM departure time!
Julie and I will lead a cruise traveling to the Badlands National Park via Highway 90 to exit 110 near Wall. We will then tour the park via Highway 240, connecting again with Highway 90 as we leave the park. The Pioneer Auto Museum is 60 miles to the East in Murdo and is a very interesting place to visit. Dave Giessler and crew have offered us a 50% off group rate for our tour. After our museum tour and lunch, we will head back Westbound for an ice cream stop at Wall Drug the biggest drug store you will ever see. Wall Drug also has no doubt the largest Jackelope you will EVER see. Departing Wall, we will head back to Deadwood for an evening of gambling and good eats at the Gold Dust Entertainment Complex.

July 4, 2001 Wednesday Spearfish Canyon / Sturgis / Ft. Meade
8:00 AM departure time! Tour Spearfish Canyon designated one of America’s most scenic byways via Highway 14A on this tour led by Donny and Donna Burnap local owners from Rapid City. Departing Spearfish you will have a chance to stop in Sturgis to load up on “Harley Stuff” and then we will be visiting Fort Meade Museum. Fort Meade is the place that the Stars Spangled Banner was first played and is still played daily. We will need to be back in Deadwood in time to freshen up and be in the Deadwood Parade staging area by 1:30 PM.

1:30 PM Wednesday July 4, 2001, Deadwood Parade Staging Area!
The Deadwood parade is scheduled to start at 2:30 PM. After the Deadwood parade we will drive to Lead to be in the Lead parade staging area at 3:30 PM. The Lead parade is scheduled to start at 4:00 PM. After the Lead parade, we will return to Deadwood for the Downtown Show and Shine from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
9:00 PM Wednesday July 4, 2001, Fireworks over the Homestake Gold Mine in Lead
Motor coach transportation has been arranged for your trip to Lead for the Fireworks Celebration over the Homestake Mine’s open cut just behind the visitor center. The first bus departure will be from Deadwood at 7:30 PM and the second departure will be at 8:00 PM. There will only be two bus departures from Deadwood to Lead. The capacity per trip is 47 people. Please make sure that the first bus is filled to capacity so that everyone will have room on the second departure. After the Lead Fireworks please board the bus ASAP near the visitors center for your trip back to Deadwood. The bus will depart for the short trip to Deadwood when it’s full and will then return to pickup the remaining Prowler owners in Lead.

July 5, 2001 Thursday, MT Rushmore / Pigtail Bridges / Needles Highway / Custer National Park 8:00 AM departure time!
Julie and I will be traveling south on Highway 385 to 87 the Needles Highway past Sylvan Lake and into Custer State Park. Our cruise will then take 87 past Legion Lake and on to the Wildlife Loop through the park to see the buffalo herds and other sights. Exiting Custer State Park, we connect with Highway 16A for our trip over the Pigtail Bridges and onward to MT Rushmore on Highway 244 near Keystone. There are many things to do and beautiful sights to see in the area. Please feel free to split from the tour at any time if you find something that interests you. Check out the backside of the Black Hills maps that are be available in the hospitality suite for more information on local attractions.
Be sure to be at the Crazy Horse Memorial on Highway 385 no later than 4:00 so that we will be able to have a group photo taken.

4:00 PM Thursday July 5, 2001. Crazy Horse Memorial Tour, Group Photo and Dinner.
Please be there no later than 4:00 for the group photo shoot. When you enter the Memorial after the photo shoot, there will be a short video presentation in the visitor center at 4:30. Please feel free to tour the visitor center and museum before the cocktail hour with light snacks and a "no host" bar from 5:30 until 6:30 when dinner will be served. Dinner will be served buffet style with prime rib and lemon pepper chicken as the main dishes at 6:30 PM. At 7:15 we will a door prize giveaway and a short thank you ceremony. Everyone purchasing a dinner ticket will have a chance to win many great prizes. On ticket = One Chance! There will be no multiple winner and no extra tickets will be sold. Grand Prize is a set of Paxton Prowler Headers but many prizes will be given and I doubt that anyone will go home empty handed.

Don and Donna Burnap will lead our Twilight Cruise back to Deadwood via Highway 385 departing at about 8:15 PM and arriving in Deadwood at about 9:15 PM. Gambling and drinks at the Gold Dust Casino are in my plans. Care to join me for this last night of friendship and good times?

July 6, 2001 Friday, Continental Breakfast from 7:00 until 8:30 AM at the Holiday Inn Express!
Final goodbyes and those of us headed west are on our way to Devils Tower, Greybull and our next nights stay at the Pawnee Hotel in Cody Wyoming.

The Official FRC radio channel for travel to and from the event will be 10,0 and the CB radio channel will be 19. I will be staying on these channels for the entirety of the event but please feel free to use other channels for your own cruise if they are different than those I have planned.

Julie and I welcome you to join us on our cruises at this event.
We do however; understand if you would rather plan your own trips with others.
Thank you for being here!
