Curious, from other posts what the industry sees as the retail value of my 1999 Kat, I looked up www.nadaguides.com to see that my kat is valued at:

$35,900 Low Retail
$43,100 Average Retail
$51,500 High Retail

Now, it did not take into account my mileage, so I do not know how valid these numbers are, but they are a guide.

Interesting, because I know two guys wanting to sell their prowler, wonder if they really want to sell now.

In February I got $40,000 from a dealer for my 2000 Silver with 3500 miles on it..and a few upgrades but I was also buying a 2001 from them..They tried to sell it for $49,000 and it was there for over 10 weeks..not sure what they actually got for it though

Just a thought about what the insurance companies think our cars are worth. After I moved, I had to get new policies. I definitely shopped around. I asked the question of, "If the car was stolen or totaled, what would the insurance pay out?" The answer at two places was only $29K. Since I owed more than that, I had to put an extra coverage package to match payoff. I would suggest that if you haven't asked your agent this question - you might want to cover your back side.

SPCL-T, I'd suggest you always insure these cars with what is called a "Stated Value" policy.. A little bit more but you state the price you want it insured for. I insured mine for the purchase price plus 10%. This way if anythnign ever happens, I get the full price I stated and not the going market value.

SPL-T;
Read your post about "stated value'. No such thing here in New Jersey.

Be careful about stated value, Ask if they will pay stated value as time of loss. Have seen insurance companies come back on a new car or used with replacement value even if customer had stated value policy. Ask agent to be sure and get in writing that no dispute will be made by insurance company on stated value. CYA before you have to make claim.
