Hello Everyone!

Thanks for welcoming me to the forum! I have never joined a forum that did this. And, I have joined many!

I just bought a 2000 black Prowler. I haven't picked it up yet because I have to drive to Miami to get it. I'm in the middle of launching a couple new websites so I have to wait a few days.

Anyway, I want to lower it when I get it. The consensus on ProwlerClub.com is that I won't want to do it. But, I disagree. I think it would look great lowered a little more. It shouldn't scrape because it doesn't have any serious overhangs.

It also shouldn't bottom out because it slowly gets higher going from to back. My NSX does the same and doesn't bottom out. The front of the NSX scrapes some but that is because there is an overhang.

My questions to you are, has anyone lowered their Prowler?
And, how did you lower it? The only two options I can find are spring clamps or cutting the springs. I can't find lowering springs anywhere.

Any help or advice you could offer would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Jude

If you plan on driving it on the street - I wouldn't lower it anymore than it is.

Hey dude,

One thing you can do is, buy some extra pushrods for the front and just take a little material maybe an 1/8 of an inch and have a GOOD welder put them back together. And for the rear, buy some extra coils for the rear and cut maybe a 1/4 of a coil off. Use a saw and no heat.

The right way to do it is to have some springs springs made up for the front and rear.

Welcome again.

Good Luck and Happy posting.

Hey, Jude......welcome to the POA!!

I would be hesitant to lower the Prowler any more than it already is. Ground clearance now is only 4.5 inches. I have to back down my drive. If I drive forward down the driveway, my mudflaps scrape (something you can't do without!). Don't forget speed bumps and the like!

I agree with John......drive it for a while before you make that decision! Good Luck!

A lowered Prowler might be hot sh*t, but you can forget going over any speed bumps... as it is, I have scraped not only my mud flaps EVERY time I got over them, but have also scraped the front nose and needed a re-paint now and then because of speed bumps. Not to mention drive ways! I don't even see how JD and some of the others with that nose job they have drive one, let alone if you lower it, be ready to spent lots o time in the paint shop getting the nose re painted! Welcome to the board!
