I have a fairly stock prowler and just wanted to do something different for once. So i decided to take the baffles out of my chrome tips b/c i heard of other people doing it and it just looks better that little holes in big tips. So i did so this morning and it looks great now. BUT now it seems like the car got quieter and you can hear the rush of the exhaust coming out more clearly now. I was hoping for louder but thats ok. I guess my only remedy at the moment is to just figure out a way to make my exhaust louder by probably putting on a flowmaster or glasspack of some type or maybe even a straight pipe. What do you guys think i should do with my exhaust to keep my costs down while still getting a better sound? Thanks. ------------------ !!++Youngest Driving Prowler Owner++!! -Amsoil Engine and Tranny Fluid |

Jason - put on the glasspack. When you hit it, you hear it! |

Jason, I have straight pipes and still have the baffles in. It is louder, for sure. |

Glasspak = around $80, but you'll want to put your baffles back in if you want to hear anything at 35. ------------------ |

Jason, you may be to young to recall a glasspac called Smithy's or Cherry Bombs but I installed the Smithy glasspac's (22" long model) and they sound great. Like any glasspac they gett louder the long they run. It started to get a bit to loud so I put the tip baffels back in and used 4 sheet metal screws with neoprene washers. This way you can remove them when you want and still re-install them when you want a quiter sound. The back down sound is awesome as they really bark when you let off the gas. Normal take off is pretty quiet but when you punch it it roars... The both mufflers cost me $52.00 for the set from a Flathead supplier in Florida. A local muffler shop installed them for $90.00. They had to make a couple of changes that I wanted. I had them make them one unit so there is no chance of rattles. Here is the place I got them at: Click on the picture of the "Smithy's" ------------------ |

I have heard Ed's pipes, they do have a good sound, especially when he steps on it. No muffler sounds like the best value! ------------------ |

I have the tip baffles in and straight pipes in place of the mufflers. Sounds great-better with the gears when the harmonics get bumped up a notch ------------------ |
