O.K., not a Prowler but, WOW!!!!

http://www.harley-davidson.com/cvo/cvo_index.asp

Factory stock from Harley.

Called a Dyna Wide Glide 2. Ferrari Red paint and frame, actual 24K gold leaf flames, Ostrich seat, totally chromed out. Wow!

I am in the Harley mood again, Dealers are getting 3 to 4 grand over for that special edition.

Not sure which Harley I will get, it will be my 7th.

That model sells, if you can find, one for $30-34K in this area and they are getting it. I paid $23K for a brand new one out of state. Should be here end of June.

HAve had both. Can't really catagorize them together. Last bike was a Triumph T595 crotch rocket. 0-100 in something like 3 seconds. Lightening fast. Not fun to ride for any distance though. Prior to that was a Harley Heritage Softail (totally tricked out), great cruising machine.

Have had a number of others as well as dirt bikes.

Different strokes for different folks.

I think that bike looks like stink-the bad stink. Looks like
a bunch of bolt on junk like the mini fairing and the thing on the bottom of the frame. I had 5 hogs, but wouldn't go back any more. Jappers do me just fine. Twice the value and no probs. Now if you need to bolster your manliness, the hog's the one

Wow, not the kind of response one would expect from a typical new yorker. LOL!

All I can say is, "I'm glad I'm getting the bike and even glader you got Hillary!" Enjoy....

FYI-as with cars, I tend not to keep any one too long so this one, while I think I would like to keep it forever, will probably be gone in 6 months to a year. The upside to this is that titled, used ones with 500-1000 miles on them are going for low $30's in this area. I bought new for $23K.
If I keep it for 6 months and then sell for $30K, not too shabby.

Trey, guess I was a little over opinionated yesterday. Sorry, not enought sleep. Enjoy your new ride. What's this typical New Yorker stuff? It seems that Harley is getting some serious competition from the S&S powered stuff. I had to laugh when I saw that Indian was trying to make a comeback with an S&S powered bike. Lots of new and exciting HD clones out there and I think HD is scrambling to keep up with new stuff. If I was getting a new HD style bike, I would look at the Bourget line. Yeah, I'm stuck with Hillary, but maybe she'll be in jail before the end of her term-wishfull thinking!

No need to apologize. All taken in fun!

What's this typical New Yorker stuff?

Actually kinda a joke since both my parents were born and live in NYC. Grandparents came over on a boat and lived in NYC all their lives. Needless to say, I'm well versed in NYC.

It seems that Harley is getting some serious competition from the S&S powered stuff.

Yeah, there is alot of stuff out there. Almost as many new ones that come out, disappear in a year or two.

I had to laugh when I saw that Indian was trying to make a comeback with an S&S powered bike.

Yeah, it was rumored about a comeback for a long time, then they did and their bikes languished at dealers and they went under again. Now they are trying to make another pass at it.

Lots of new and exciting HD clones out there and I think HD is scrambling to keep up with new stuff.

That is true, if nothing else, it keeps them on their toes. I think the thing that sets Harley apart from all others (right now) is that they have built a huge following over the last 30-40 years. Ask pretty near anyone what a Harley is and they know. Ask that same person what a Big Dog, American Iron, Python, Bourget, etc. is and they probably don't have a clue. Harley has also become to bikes what the word Kleenex is to facial paper. Everything is "Harley-like" or Harley-esk".

If I was getting a new HD style bike, I would look at the Bourget line.

I am with you there totally. Awesome bikes with a 2.5" frame with oil in the frame. Incredible paint jobs. I just didn't want to spend $45K on a bike (rolling art) right now.

Of course, if I buy 2-3 more Harley's at this price and sell them for around $10K more then what I spent, maybe.

Yeah, I'm stuck with Hillary, but maybe she'll be in jail before the end of her term-wishfull thinking!

There are lots in and out of NYC with that dream, trust me.

Looks even better in real life. Most dealers only get one, some smaller ones don't even get one. Dealers are paying a premium to get another one in showrooms. Like I said, locally they are going, used, for mid 30's and they are getting it (so far anyway).

Should be a fun toy as I miss the mint green/battleship grey heritage I had.

One thing about after market $45 Harley's that are not Harley's... try and sell a used one and your lucky to get $11,000 with 100 miles on it. They are not and never will be a Harley and people do not buy them used very well. How do I know? this is my business now for 20 years, and that's what I pay for those wanna bee's all the time. Now if it was a real Harley all tricked out, that would be another story all together.

I personally want to thank Todd as his wisdom of the price and background with Harley's saved me a about $4K on this bike. I had a good deal that went south then I got an incredible deal following his advise.

If you want a bike or are considering one. Talk to Todd first, he doesn't sell new ones but, he can definitely point you in the right direction and give great advise.

Thanks again Todd,

Trey

Time will tell. I've called quite a number of dealers from coast to coast and some areas are out of them while others are stocked with them and apparently have been for quite a while. Alot has to do with what they are asking. Laddie got me to thinking about it when he had a post of a dealer that had one they were selling (new) for $45K with no takers. They ended up selling that one to another dealer for even less but, I figured if one dealer was doing that, perhaps another might be doing the same. So I decided on my own to just start calling different dealers.

It's fun looking again.

Not a problem Trey, glad to have helped. Remember though, the best time to sell this is by Mid June, after that, it will be last years model and worth around $18= 20 K overnight, and I do mean instantly.

Thanks again. I never buy any car or bike to be an investment. If it works out that way, great! If not, well I'm having fun with it.

I hear what you are saying about the prices if dealers in this state actually sold them for what sticker was then $18-20K would be correct but, for a bike that lists (new) for $22K and dealers here are selling them (used) for $32-34K (and getting it), I can't imagine they would suddenly drop the price to $18K (seeing as how ALL stock base model bikes have at least a $5K premium attached to each and every one.)

Most of the big Harley's have a stock price of somewhere around $15-16K but, locally the cheapest you can buy one for is $21K (new). This is exclusive of limited or highly sought after models. With those, it is whatever they can get it for.

The only way I know to stop this practice is for people to stop paying that premium and either buy elsewhere or not buy. Most bikes are gone (or at least sold) within 24 hours (such is life).

Thanks again!

How are harley's priced in your area of the country, if you know?

In Texas, from what I've found, they want roughly $5K OVER sticker for a new stock bike. Double, triple, quadruple that for specialty bikes.

I'm just curious as to what the rest of you guys see out there.

Thanks!
