Hi All Somewhere I saw a car lift to stack one car above another in a garage. Does anyone know where I can get one, and do they come out to install these. I have high ceilings in my garage and think it would work. Sasy ------------------ This message has been edited by SasyMama on 05-02-2001 at 10:44 AM |

Check out the link to Cytech that Gary provided, and also check out www.rtoplift.com I have been comparing both lift companies. Prices are about the same. However, Cytech told me that you have to find an installer, usually a garage near your location. I did this and was quoted $600. each lift to install. Finding this out, I cooled my search for a lift for a while. Went to the GoodGuys car show and found Rtoplift co. was offering the same lift with installation from the factory as an all-inclusive deal. Best deal I could find was Rtoplift. |

SM- My lift is the BackYard Buddy ( http://www.backyardbuddy.com ). Bought it about a year ago for around $3200.00. Works great! Your right about the ceiling height, has to be tall enough for the cars being parked, I think I have about 4" to spare. I also had to raise my garage door tracks close to the ceiling. But, it does help making a 3 car garage into a 4 car garage. ------------------ |

Stoney What model do you have? What is the total height with the cars on it. I will have to have the garage door tracks moved. If i can get this together, I will keep the cars Sasy ------------------ This message has been edited by SasyMama on 05-02-2001 at 01:26 PM |

Sas- I have the standard 4 post, 7000# lift. Shipping weight was about 1500#. Believe it or not, me and my wife (mostly me ) put it together...took about 8 hours. I did have to pay a local company about $100 to bring it out to my house. My ceiling height was about 112"...just enough for two low riding cars which was about 109". The BackYard Buddy had the best height lock for the Vette, I think about 54" which gave me more room for the top vehicle. Keep in mind that you have to raise the lift about 3-4" to unlock the safety locks before you can lower the lift. If you buy one, have a "lift party" and get a few guys with strong backs to put it together! I called all of the major lift manufacturers and requested literature. They all sent brochures and videotapes. Let me know if you have any other questions. ------------------ This message has been edited by LndRckt on 05-02-2001 at 02:01 PM |

Sassy ... The overall height you ask about is determined by the vehicles that you are stacking. A van under a Prowler will be higher than two Prowlers, and that is even sligthtly higher than a Prowler over a Vette as in Stony's case (which is same scenario in my garage). If someone of my meager financial means can "get something like this together" and have garage rails raised, and purchase a lift to house a couple of cars I enjoy, I am quite certain it should be a no - brainer for a self made millionaires like your self to accomplish something similiar. Best of luck in your Lift purchase decission ... I recommend Cytech; custom colors to match your moods also are avbailable! ------------------ |
