How's it going Prowler Dudes?!?! I've been viewing this messageboard for a few months and I've decided to speak up. I drive a 2000 300M and our little community sometimes branches out to look for other performance news.I've got some questions about your transmissions and all of that power you keep feeding your Kats. We all know the current Trans that we use doesn't deliever the goods on the pavement and there's also talk about it being a weak link with possible failure risks. I was just wondering with all of the mods you guys do, Nitro, SuperCharging, Gears. Has anyone thought about a ZF Transmission? Or any other performance transmission? I'd really like to hear your thoughts on the Tranny subject! AJ ------------------ |

AJ Contact Dean at Prowler Pro, he is working on modifying a 300m with the same gears and nos he developed for the prowler and showing it at SEMA this year. ------------------ This message has been edited by Marc/Colo/99 on 04-29-2001 at 08:51 PM |

I'll bite, what is the ZF tranny? The Prowler tranny is in the rear of the car, I didn't know if the 300 and the Prowler are rear wheel drive. |

So can the current Transmission can take the heat? I've always been interested in the gear set up. As a matter of fact I've talk to those SoCal Speed Guys and they actually suggested using the 3.88 gears from the Chrysler Concorde. But, of course if the deeper Prowler Pro gears work then I'd be more interested in those. AJ ------------------ |

Gary C, The ZF Tranny is a expensive tranny that Chrysler has been working with. ZF is actually a company, they make all kinds of Trannys. Point is that it has low drive-train loss. The 300's are FWD but the power difference is something like 5HP at the wheels in favor of the Prowler. ------------------ |

I would think that the 300m being a heavier car would be harder on the tranny then a Prowler when you start to up the HP. I don't see why you couldn't apply a lot of the mods we've been doing. Please keep us informed! ------------------ |

AJ.....this is CJ (a Prowler Dudette) My husband (who is an executive at DC) did a specialty 300M. It's kind of late here right now and he is out like a light, but I will have him post something tomorrow on what he did to the 300M! ------------------ |

Hey now, I think they both have the same tranny even though the 300 is FWD..........They have the same final drive ratio, I've already checked............. |

Thanks CJ! I hear that a tuned version of the 300m is coming as a 2002 1/2 model, but no details have been given. Any info would help greatly! FatMan, The Tranny is the same being that the 300m is a north/south engine much like a RWD car and very much unlike any other FWD out there. GSC......the original SoCal 300M (candy tangerine and silver) which was reviewed by Motor Trend TV and appeared in the January 2000 issue was basically a stock 300M with the following modifications: Borla exhaust
Torque converter SoCal is working on NOS for their new car. Call Tony Thacker at 909.469.6171 and discuss what he may have available. They did a very nice job on lowering the car, louvered hood and unique front and rear fascias. Does that answer your questions? ------------------ |

Thanks CJ, I've spoken with the SoCal guys a while ago. But they failed to mention the Torque Converter. The guys over @ Performance West have been working on getting the 300m below 6 secs naturally without NOS or a SC. Performance West was the one who gave me the idea of the Concorde to 300m gear change. I just want to thank you all for the help, and I hope you don't mind if I stick around! AJ ------------------ |
