OK...I'm tired of paying $900./yr for my prowler car insurance. Yeah, I am one of those guys who keeps the car in the garage as a toy, an occasional weekend driver. Anyone know of a "collectors" car insurance for around $500/yr??

Collectors car insurance is only for the old old old cars.. Something like before 1975 or so depending on the company. The Prowler won't qualify for any of them...... I pay $600 every 6 months, and the Prowler gets less than 1000 miles a year on it, PLUS I have 3 other Hummers besides which are on the same policy, the main Hummer being about $2500/year due to my age (21), being unmarried, and also having my license less than 5 years in this state.......... Sigh... -Ben ------------------ |

Want to ask the prowler group, before I start calling a handful of insurance companies for "occasional use" car insurance policy. True..I have a 1950 Truck, and pay $250/yr for it. It lives in the garage, except for the occasional weekend show...similar to the prowler. I have 4 cars....still no fleet rate. There has got to be a repuatable co. and policy that allows for my situation. This only burns me because both Prowler and 1950 truck policy renewals came yesterday. $250/yr truck vs. $900/yr on prowler... Appreciate your leads. |

all depends on where you live, your driving record, marital status and age. Progressive here, in LA, for me, would be around 900 a MONTH. I'm still hunting for insurance too... if I get any new leads I'll post. ------------------ |

Also, be careful when just shopping price for something like car insurance for a Prowler ... a wise ole man who owned a body shop once told me: You get what you pay for, and pay for, and pay for ... Meaning, hope they cover you without hassle if and when a claim is made! I am with State Farm and pay roughly $400 something for 6 months of use -- stored other 6 here in the midwest. Good luck! ------------------ |

True....there are many variables involved in insurance quote on 1999 Prowler, but here is what I found, for a Florida resident with 20+ years safe driving experience: Geico: $900/yr All had same coverage quote. |

Is the high theft area due to you BIGFOOT? I pay $625 a year for State Farm. They used to be horrible to deal with but are now VERY customer friendly as far as repairs. I have multi car discount. |

Those of you citing State Farm and low annual premiums ... what are your limits and what is your deductable? Seems you have lower annual rates than my 6 month rate and the questions I pose are the 'wild cards' that determine the rate .... curious. ------------------ |

Approx $650. per year.....several other cars and house insured with the same carrier...I also am 49, no accidents ever, and no tickets since July 3, 1969....living in a small midwestern town also helps...amounts will vary widely depending on certain factors in your particular situation.....my son(23)pays more for an 85 pickup truck, liability only, than I do for a Viper.... ------------------ |

I have $100,000/300,000 for bodily injury, 50,000 property. Uninsured is also 100,000/300,000 but I have $1000 deductible on collision and $50 on comprehensive and I am over 50 with multi-car, airbags, and new business (whatever that is) discounts on last years policy. I can't find the one I just paid, but it went down so I guess it is accident free discount. |

On average, most owners are looking at $800 to $1000 annually, which really isn't bad, considering it is a fast car with little protection if you get whacked at high speed. The saving grace is it's uniqueness. Professional thieves stay away from them because they are too easy to spot, and the market for the parts, if they are chopped, is limited by the relatively small number produced. Biggest problem is comp claims. Certain civilians who have an issue with other people's things, occasionally like to deface them. |
