Contrary to the first reply, I too have had my stock silver wheels stripped and then high-polished (by a local Harley specialty place in the Chicago burbs) and am VERY pleased with the results (specially when you read thread after thread of the stock chrome wheels flaking) and the next to ZERO maintanence. My guy polished the grooves inside the "barrel" smooth, so no stuck brake dust and MUCH easier to wash, dry and wax. Mine look as good as the day they were done and I do not spend ANY extra time on them -- just a good wax at the begining of the season and then at the end before storing the car ... Go fo it, don't let others scare you off from doing it.
