In liu of an apology, who thinks we should send the Chineese a Prowler in exchange for our sevice people and spy plane?

How can we end the stale mate without letting god 'ole boy Jesse Jackson get his 2 cents in it?

Great idea on the Prowler. It stimulates the USA economy, it gives the Chinese a true cat and we can gouge them when they need spare parts.

After using it for a couple of months, they will manufacture a smaller, cheaper copy of it. It will have a longer warranty, better availability of spare parts and the top latches will be made of plastic so that the whole thing can break instead of just the tabs. Lastly, they will offer a matching trailer that will seat 10. The only available color will be "red."

On the Jessie Jackson issue, it would appear to me that he has already shoved in his regards recently and the Chinese are very strict about population control.

In 1971-73 I lived in China(not by choice), the sight and sounds of American iron coming down the streets doing battle with bicycles, water buffalo, motorcycles etc was amazing....the big cars just didn't seem to fit in over there...one of my funniest memories was seeing all the American cars the Chinese government officials used...always LARGE American cars, 10-15 years old, and ALWAYS painted black...nothing like a parade of 59Chevys, all black, rusted etc, but always had a chauffeur !!!....there was a red 70 Hemi-CUDA that was a regular around the neighborhood I lived in......don't know where he got the gas for that....gas on the open market topped $3. per gallon at that time....another thought, was standing on a street corner in a small village in Japan one day, heard the familiar sound of a big block, looked behind me and much to my surprise was a 1969 427 Vette(dark green coupe) rolling down the dusty little street....many of these cars had been shipped by military personnel and then sold to the locals....A Prowler, it would have to be equipped with a trailer to haul farm animals in and of course be black....Jesse, give that parasite a one way ticket anywhere he wants to go...or, make him get a real job !!!

APOLOGY TO THE PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF CHINA
It is with deep regret, hesitation, and contrition that I, The President of the United States of America, offer apology to the Chinese nation and its peoples. I apologize for the heinous act performed by our large, sluggish, propeller driven, airplane when it got in the way of your highly maneuverable, supersonic, technologically superior, jet aircraft. Furthermore, I sincerely regret the fact that by flying in international airspace, we afforded your "highly competent" pilot the opportunity to fly his aircraft into our own, causing him to spiral to his death into the ocean. We regret the choice made by said pilot when he used deficient judgment in electing to attempt aerial intimidation upon our slower moving, unarmed, surveillance vehicle.
This situation brings to mind a similar episode when I was in grade school and my face got in the way of the school yard bully's fist. He broke a bone in his hand and I felt as compelled to apologize for that incident as I do for this one.
Let me summarize by stating that it is our sincere hope that you accept this "heart felt" and "sincere" apology for the actions committed by your pilot. We are sorry that we got in the way. We are sorry that we were forced to leave international airspace and land in Chinese territory.
We are sorry that you were forced to provide food and housing for our military personnel. Most of all, we are sorry that you have, in your possession, some of our most technologically advanced surveillance equipment on the planet. I hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive us. I hope that soon you will be compelled to release our men and our property. Because I really don't want to have to apologize again when we have to kick your *** .
Sincerely,
George W. Bush
President of the United States

Dave, George couldn't have said it better if he tried. I'm sorry, I mean his speech writer couldn't have said it better. I can't believe anyone outside of China can understand China's actions. What the H#%% are they thinking!

Hmmm ... perhaps we have next week's poll now from this thread ... How many chinese can you fit in a Prowler, including the trunk, but without a trailer?

Winner gets ... um a ... fighter plane full of rice?

Once our people are back home, make a parking lot out of their country. We could use the space.

Heard the sharks wouldn't eat their pilot that crashed into the water.

Professional courtesy, I'm told.
