I was checking out the Ky. Speedway website and discovered that they had a "Drive the Track" in your own car, on March 31st. It was 2 laps free with the purchase of $40 in their gift shop. Apparently they also did this on Dec. 4th, when the weather was very cold. I emailed the publicity director asking him if they intended to repeat this offer in the future. I will try to stay on top of this and post it. They only posted it on March 21st for the March 31st event so they apparently don't give you a lot of lead time. The speedway is on I-71 about 50 south of Cincinnati and about 60 miles north of Louisville, Ky. just across the river from southern Indiana. I am heart sick over missing this event.

Ask them what speed they take you around the track?
If they have a pace car or not?
If not, I'll be there.

TMS speeds where 70mph.

Last year at Good Guys Fontana Track were speeds over 120 mph, pace car pace was 115 mph.

Gary, I called them today. They do have a pace car at about 65 to 70 MPH. I guess I am not so hearsick over missing it now.
They give tours of the track for $5 and take you around on a van and tour the pits, etc. That might be interesting for us non racers. Anybody interested in it?

Ed, it's still fun to go around the track... Even if you don't get to go as fast as you think you might like too... I've been around TMS twice now & Daytona once for parade lap before the Rolex 24 hour race there in Feb. They're great memories... If I was near the area, I would surely join in...

I guess I should have said Fontana is fun no matter how many times you go and the tracks where the pace is way slower you might get bored quicker ata slower pace.

I'm with Laddie, if I lived in the area I wouldn't miss it for the world.

I agree but it just doesn't seem like quite as much fun. I forgot to add that they intend to repeat it in late fall. I will try to stay on top of it, but I missed it a few weeks ago. Not much advance notice.

Hey Ed.....forget about driving the Prowler at 70....How about a NASCAR at 160! Petty just opened up his Racing Experience at Kentucky Speedway! For 1199.00 you get 5 hours worth of knowledge and then 30 laps in a real NASCAR....600HP. Check it out at www.1800BePetty.com I'm game if you are!

Ken
Did 16 laps at PPIR 2 years ago and wooooooow. Something that much fun should be illegal. 160 mph and enough G's in the corners to make you feel like an astonaut.
Just do it!
