I was just reading Cliff's story about when his new Mulholland arrived and the CHP and local Sheriff taking a look. It reminded me of a moment I've got to share! Last fall I was on my way home from a new clinic where I just started working. To get there and back I have to drive through a small town (or at least it's the scenic way...Is there any other way when you're in the Prowler?) Fall in Wisconsin just has to be witnessed. The air is crisp but just warm enough to cruise with the rag top stowed. I'm moving along at a leisurely pace when I approach this town (50mph) and I notice this sherrif's car parked just off the road. Knowing that I'm not speeding, I flick the headlights and give a friendly wave (probably not the smartest thing to do!) About 100 yards ahead it turns to 40 so I'm well down to that by the time I get there. I look up and see the police cruiser right on my tail!! I'm thinking "what the ---- did I do?" I knew I wasn't speeding! He signals me to pull over and when he walks up to the window his first words are "I've been waiting for you!" I couldn't beleive it! I asked him to repeat himself and he proceded to tell me that there had been several complaints about my driving (passing while doing over 90, etc.). I tried to reassure him that the worst I had committed (in his area) was a 45 in the 40 where we sat. Then I had to admit that any red prowler reports had to be me...but still... He then tells me that he also clocked me doing 50 in a 40. I ask where and he tells me it's where he was sitting. This guy didn't realize that the ambush site he had chosen was in a 55 zone. He was a little embarassed for pulling me over for doing 5 miles under the limit (a rare occurance) and let me leave. I guess the people of this small town just wanted to know who was driving through. I can't blame them. You see a prowler and your interest is peaked. Isn't that why we all have one? I'm new to this site but have enjoyed a lot of the postings. Hope to get to meet some of you on a road trip. My wife's big on the idea too. Happy Prowlin' ------------------ |

I know how you feel. I've been pulled over by the police, just so they could see the car. The only ticket I have gotten believe it or not is a PARKING ticket. The last thing that I ever thought I would get with my Purple Prowler. Watch out from now on, they may still be watching for you. Good Luck! ------------------ |

So the crazy horse run will be based out of deadwood? I sure will try. I didn't see the date or other information posted yet but I'll keep watching. Also, looks like you've been busy with the Prowler items. way to go. I may have to pick some up. By the way...is your "cat out of the bag?" I had to take mine out two days ago. An issue with the storage. At least it was a 50 degree day...before the snow came again. ------------------ |

2k, where is Menomonie? I live in Chicago but am in Wisconsin every so often. Roads are good in Wisconsin and I like to cruise there at 90 mph - no problem! ------------------ |

Hey Night Prowler, You're right, the roads are great and a god cruise is through the western side of the state of county roads G, A and E. Really pretty and good hills and curves. But be careful on I-94!!!! Rated the number one speed trap in the country a few years back. The state patrol uses GMC Jimmy's and other SUV's of all colors to catch you!! Menomonie is in the western part of the state about 1 hour east of the twin cities. We're just west of Eau Claire. Probably a long drive for you but any time you're up this way, drop on by...just drop me a line. tarbox.grant@mayo.edu gwtbox@aol.com ------------------ |
