Jane and I picked up our new Blue and the only question I have is - the floor mats have Silver lettering not Blue as I had expected. All you other Blue owners do you have Silver lettering on your floor mats? Other than that, Jane and I LIKE it.

Phil, I was dissapointed also to find that they were silver. I guess this was a cost cutting move at DC, or they did not have blue ones ready yet when the cars shipped? Maybe CJ can shed some light here. Will they ever be made in blue? I would like mine light blue also. Let me know if you find someone that can alter it and I will try to do the same here. ------------------ |

I know this isn't good news, but the three Mulholland Editions we have sold all had the Silver etching also. You have a valid point, but whether it was cost cutting, or they had alot left over from the Silver runs, it appears they are all coming like this. Was hoping it was a bo boo. I was thinking the color of the pin stripe would look good. If you come up with something Mike let me know and I'll do the same. John, will have the Blue for the brunch on April 8 too. We'll have to have a slower cruise while we break the car in. ------------------ This message has been edited by CA Phil on 03-26-2001 at 02:24 PM |

Remember, one of the things they did to keep the price of these in line was to use as many parts from other DC vehicles as they could. While the mats are specific to the Cat, limiting choices to few neutral colors is consistent with the cost control theory. I'm sure some aftermarket outfit will come up with color matched accessories. |

I would be interested in a set of blue mats as well. I recently had my silver two-toned in the new blue and thought blue mats would look cool. Even have an extra silver set to trade. ------------------ |

Bob says he will ask the design studio tomorrow why they are silver and if they are coming out with any blue. Will let you know as soon as possible. |

Thanks CJ, I'm sure we would all appreciate knowing why they stopped color coordinating the floor mats. ------------------ |

I don't know, but my theory is that the dark blue is not enough contrast to the charcoal floor mat. They probably tried it, and you could not see the "Prowler" up against the dark color of the mat. Just my theory. ------------------ |

PP, I agree with your theory. However, they could do the light blue to match pin stripe... ------------------ |

The light blue would have been my choice. Agree with you Jim the dark blue on the mats wouldn't have worked. ------------------ |

From the Design office: The mats were always intended to be silver. They looked at dark blue, but didn't like it. No answer as to why they didn't choose light blue. |

Was the intent to pinstripe the car from the beginning? If not this could be the reason they went silver over light blue. My 2 cents |

Yes, the car was always to be pinstriped! |
