I am getting ready to have my front A arms bead blasted and polished and would like advice as to what the easiest way is to remove them from the car? Is this pretty straight forward or are there things I need to know before removing them? Thanks in advance. Bill Gallagher |

DON'T blast 1st and then polish, you make it that much harder to get a polish! Just have them polished! ------------------ |

Bottom line is there is some disassembly required to get the upper control arm(a-arm) off. The problem is with the front bolt, it cannot clear the rocker arm where the push rod to the lower control arm connects. Likewise you cannot get the bolt out of the upper end of push rod because of the control arm bracket and bolt. The most straight forward way to get things apart and then back together again is to take the rocker arm assembly loose, removing the attaching bolts of the shock, stabilizer bar link, and rocker arm itself. This requires removing the radiator stabilizing bracket and rods and then lifting and holding the radiator as far back as possible while you squeeze in to get to the necessary bolts. With the rocker arm loose you can manipulate the assemble to be able to remove the push rod bolt and the front control arm bolt. By the book you remove the shock assembly and then pull out the rocker arm, but I didn't remove shock, just moved the rocker arm around. Watch out for your a/c condenser during all this as it really tricky to not trash with hands or wrenches getting to neccesary spots. The good news to this is that when you get it all back together it really looks great! Talk to Chris Wade - CNote6 here on POA site - He has chromed his and he polished my control arms. I'm very pleased with the polished appearance. If you want to talk, give me a call 765 935-4814. ------------------ |

Another thought this am on this matter. Begin research now on finding a shop that can align your car after reassembly. My dealer said they had it covered and then found out that while their equipment had all the specs in machine they didn't have 20" wheel adaptor. Another week of the Cat in the garage waiting for this to new alignment appointment. ------------------ |
