I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is really any success to be had installing the supercharger yourself or with a qualified mechanic? I have read earlier posts about some type of spacer on a pully that was not the correct thickness and threw the whole thing out of wack. I know there is the option of shipping the car to California for the work, but for the ones that did it themselves was it worth doing? And should I risk it? Thanks for any info, Darryl |

Daryl, I installed mine in my garage with a friend. If I had to do it over again, I would find a qualified shop. You might start by calling Paxton and see who they recommend in your area. The install takes about 3 full days to complete. A local shop should probably quote a week or two. Make sure that you don't take your car in before they are ready to work on it. There is nothing more frustrating then waiting for your car to be worked on while it just sits in the shop!! The Paxton supercharger is a quality product that will add more smiles per miles to your Prowler. ------------------ |

Daryl, There were two other people (that I know) in addition to Mike who did their own install. And, one of them told me he would not do it again. His install was fine & car runs great. It just that it took him over two weeks doing it himself. The pulley & spacer thing may have been from my install. The pulley on the blower was on backwards and we had to take it off & reverse it. Bob Wyman GM of Paxton told me this was the only one that had happened on & they had added another step in their process to ensure it wouldn't happen again. And, we did grind down one spacer for bracket alignment. Again, I have not heard of that problem other than on my install. Mike, Rich & me were the first installs. We shared a lot of info & pics between a small group of us who all had the first shipment of Paxtons. The pics & commentary are on Dan Pena's site. I used a local speed shop in New Orleans who was on Paxton recommended list. The tech did a very good job and it was completed over a three day period. I had visited each site on their recommended list in the area and made my selection on how I felt about the tech doing the install. I now have about 4,000 miles on the Paxton system & no problems. If I decide to add some of the Paxton upgrades to my car, I'll take it to Paxton. They have the ability to tune your Paxton system to match whatever other mods you may have on your car. I'm a very satisfied customer with Paxton system. ------------------ |
