HiHoSilver and MellowYellow: First of all, quite honestly, you should not be attempting to get answers out of anyone about this issue. That is all proprietary information and should not even be discussed. This is not the time for someone to be jeopardizing their job, as much as they might want to help answer your question. What exactly is the issue? Is it the timing of the demise of the Prowler? Or is is the availability of the parts after the demise of the Prowler? There are a lot vehicles that only live a certain lifetime and the Prowler is no exception. It was built as a specialty vehicle, intended for a limited lifetime. It has already gone beyond that. Luckily, Prowler was conceived utilizing many high-volume parts from other DC vehicles. These volumes insure the availability of replacement components. As to the unique items, DC always strives to support the needs of its owners. Wild speculation does nothing to enhance the owners enjoyment of their vehicles. If there is a specific question or issue which is not proprietary, we will be happy to respond to that or those individuals separately. |

Several years ago I read an article about USA auto companies being required to provide spare parts for 20 years after they stop production. Some governtment regulation on consumer protection. Does anyone know anything about this? |

I worked as a Service Manager for Chrysler dealers back in the 60's for about 8 years. The Fed's require an automobile manufacturer to keep replacement parts for at least 10 years. At least that is what it was then. Hope this helps. ------------------ |

Trey.......if they aren't already in that mix.....then for sure they might be!!! Don't worry Lance..........I have VERY thick skin!!! It comes from being in the car business all these years!!! LOL My husband was originally with AMC. We have been through the numerous reorganizations they went through every year, the sell-out to Renault, the sell-out to Chrysler and the sell-out to Daimler. I think we have enough experience with this kind of thing to have a feel for what it going on!! |

Guys, I had a 1990 Corvette ZR-1 for 8 years.. This car was built for only 5 years with a total of 6034 units. The LT-5 engine was and still is one of a kind engine that has nothing in common with any GM engine ever built except for the rear main seal. This engine was design by LOTUS and build by Mercury Marine. Last year of production for the ZR-1 was 1995. Parts are still available. The prowler???? Who is worried??? Frank PS: One of the reasons I liked the Prowler was because everything is off the shelve. |

Since the Prowlers engine and transaxle are both used in the 300M I don't think we have to worry about the drive train parts bin being empty. alot of the other parts are from other currrent DC vehicles and will probably be around a while also. As Alfred E Neuman would say "What, me worry?" ------------------ |
