Just wondering what kind of gas milage you guys are getting out of your cats or how many miles do you get to a tank of gas? I have never checked mine and don't really care. I just fill it up and GO! Thanks, john ------------------ PROWLEN.... John This message has been edited by PROWLEN on 02-01-2001 at 10:12 PM |

The stupid engineer in me checks it everytime.....I run premium and have a lead foot....the average is about 15 mpg.....and the damnest thing happen to me AGAIN today....was just out joy riding (on the way to work at 1:30 pm this afternoon) and decided to take a detour. Went about 30 miles out of my way (my one way trip to work is 8 miles) and gosh darn it, I knew I needed to get gas before I left....anyway, looked down as I was pulling in into my office parking lot and the gas gauge was pegged at ZERO.....so immediately went to the gas station where it took 10.3 gallons (isnt it a 9 gallon tank?0...anyways, probably the 4th time I almost ran out of gas bc of a last minute detour/cruise to nowwhere.... ------------------ |

I believe that '97-99 have 10 gallon gas tanks and that 2000 and newer have 12 gallon tanks. Just a word of caution to new owners. When the gas nozzel clicks off, it's full! Try to top it off and you will have gas running down the side of your car... Who has got the best MPG and who has got the worst? ------------------ PROWLEN.... John (-: |

I've switched to a oil made by and called PetroMoly out of Houston. They are big in the race car stuff. They claimed double your engine life, cooler running temps, 40% reduced emissions and 5%-8% increase in gas milage. Since I have been using it, the engine runs at a cooler temp, it idles real smooth and the gas milage, which was a steady 17 mpg, went up to a steady 22 mpg. I'm sold on this product and it's not synthetic. You then change oil and filter every 7,000 miles, not 3,000. Of course you do the 3,000 while in warranty. If interested, their website is www.petromoly.com and it was $54.00 for a case of 12 quarts. I had been in the car business for about 17 years and was never impressed with hipe but this stuff really works. Local TV station tested it since we have a air polution problem and after 2000 miles of driving they re-tested the car and found the readings 38% lower... All this is "for what its worth dept". By the way, the Prowler has a 12 gallon gas tank from 97 to today's model. My 99 almost ran out and it took 11.3 gal.

I understand that some of the earlier Prowler's have a gas "nosel line" that will not allow the tank to fill. I have been on "2 miles left" on the black and never been able to put more then 11.5 gallons back in. I average 17 MPG, but an increase to 22 MPG sounds unreal! The Oil I use, Lubrication Engineer's, was tested around 5-8 years ago as THE best around, and is used in the multi million dollar electrical turbines, and does not have a milage increase. ------------------ |

When I was coming back from Woodward with the police on my butt and reset the computer and was getting 28.5 miles per gallon that was a 65mph, 70mph 26.0, 80mph was 23.8. With the geared 99 I got a combo of 21.5. cruis'n at 70 on the freeway. SCMHFDYWTG ------------------ |

Yes Andy, I knew I didn't have all the figures correct but all in all I'm swearing to this product so far. I now have it in my 1 ton Dodge Dually and I'm seeing the same type results. Even when I tow my trailer the engine runs cooler for sure. I think the $54.00 may have been with the shipping. Another benny in this is that it causes you to gain a bit in compression with a much better seal on the rings and walls. ------------------ |

My light comes on at about 10 gallon. I have put in 11.3 gallons. ------------------ |

I just double checked my mileage tonight... my current average in the black is 19.5 MPG, but this fluctuates with how I am driving. I was able to get 28 MPG going 72. Speed and what gear I am in, and what terain, determines the immdiate MPG, so I always went on the average. ------------------ |

OK! Got a 10.3 and a 10.1 gallon fill ups on empty. I checked my brochures and they all said 12 gallon tanks. Hmmmm.... Does anyone have an early model window sticker that indicates a 10 gallon tank? So far best mpg listed: 28.5 mpg Thanks... ------------------ PROWLEN.... John (-: This message has been edited by PROWLEN on 02-03-2001 at 02:51 AM |
