Gary, as you stated in another thread, Speed cost, How fast can you afford? With all you guys out looking for speed, If I could afford the speed I would look into replacing the 216 cu. in. V6 with a V8. You have already voided the warranty with the mods so this cannot be the reason. I keep hearing about this 354 CU. IN. Hemi, money no object my car would have one between the frame rails. If TGF can put a 4.7, 5 speed and Dana in Howler, someone should be able to put 360 or other MOPAR small block in one. Yes the stock 360 makes about 250 HP, but I'm in the process of building 340 for my Dart and they have article were they made just 5 mods from stock 340 from 281 HP to 391 HP at the flywheel. This isn't any major modifications. See article in this months Mopar Muscle. Mopar Parts has a crate 380HP 360 for about $3,600. With a few more mods it could go up more. Now if the trans axle can hold Mike's, Dan's and Dean's hot V6's why not try and break it with a V8. I have heard Lingenfelter (I know it is mis spelled) has put a small block cheby in one.RUMOR only Someone with the funds to make the power put it where it counts. NOTHING BEATS CUBIC DOLLARS Yes, an 11 second Prowler is possible. ------------------ |

Obi-Wan is as we speak researching with qualified engineers the possibility of naturally getting 400 hp by modifiying a Prowler engine. I am told Obi-Wan can get a new Prowler engine in the mid $3000. Obi-Wan now has in his possession a 300M engine on an engine stand and is disecting it and discussing it with the powers that can. I forsee late next year, John Davies and I forking out some cash to put a beefed up V6 (cams, lifters, forged pistons .. the works) with our Paxtons or rumor has it a Vortech supercharger. The people at Apex Motorsports tells me Vortech is working on a kit for the Prowler. I hear Mike Krehel has done 12.8 on the 1/4 mile. I think with all the mods John and I are doing. We should be able to meet or beet this time. We shall see what happens. Hopefully Paxton will come thru for John and I with the smaller pulley and reprogramed black box to see how much more we can get from our Cats. Disclaimers have been sent to Paxton releasing them from any liability. I look forward to that! Don't you love rumors !!! Later... ------------------ |

Al, Dan is correct my best time using juice and S/C is 12.84, but that was before I put the gears in and the outside temperature was 100+. I think the car will easily do a 12.5 now with the gears on a cooler day. BTW, Congratulations on winning the TGF hardtop!! ------------------ |

My thoughts are someone needs to make a roll bar for you that are going under 14 sec. At some point you will roll into staging lane and be told last run if you drop under 14.00 Helmets a must, and all convertibles under 14 must have roll bars. Have fun, go fast but most important be safe Unless the track is rented out as Mike did earlier this year, I would think going to local track on Saturday night there will be some disappointed people. A friend of mine has `67 Coronet hardtop with about 512 Cu. In. Hemi. Detuned to run 12.00 so he doesn't have to install bar. He keeps getting threatened if he drops into 11's on the trailer he goes. This car could easily run high 10's with 70~something driver. ex racer of Palmer Dodge racer from the `60's. Gary, you might be the King of post but have a ways to go to catch Dan, John & Mike for fast cats. Where is that boat motor at? ------------------ |

I, like most, would LOVE for my Kat to be super fast; but does ANYONE else realize what a 12 quarter compares to? Try a Lamborghini Diablo 6.0. A V12 MONSTER with all wheel drive! How fast a Kat is fast enuff? I'm a speed demon, but even I know when enuff is enuff. If MY Kat were as fast as some of yours out there, I would probably have already been arrested. ------------------ |

Gary, I'm only running a 50hp shot of nitrous and the secret is to install a timer to kick the NOS in about .5-.75 seconds after WOT (nailing the big pedal). The delay prevents excessive wheel spin off the line and the nitrous fills in the bottom end since the supercharger doesn't even begin to build boost until 2500 RPM's. BTW, I leave the nitrous on all the way through boost. J.P. As John Hennessey would say "Too Much Horsepower Is Never Enough"! ------------------ |

It is going to take 100 horsepower shot of Nitrous, Gears and Paxton(10lbs) with the front fenders off, Cats off or by passed,VP UNLEADED FUEL, 60 lbs of pressure in the fronts and maybe a hardtop. And hope you don't need a basket to clean up the parts. Maybe 5 passes at this setting would be OK, I wouldn't want to go any farther than that. JOMO I ran the HP/ET calculator and you need 406 HP at the wheels and the right conditions to do this. ------------------ |
