SS Prowler, welcome to the Prowleronline site. Go to the Homepage and go to Facts and Stats and scroll down to see how many of each color Prowler were manufactured by year. The Woodward was named after Woodward Ave. in Detroit, their famous "cruising" street. I think there were 152 made, each one is numbered and signed by "Dr. RU" on the hand painted pinstripe, center of the trunk. Woodward Ave. is now the site of a cruise-in in August of every year that draws over a million visitors and 40,000 cars. To see that spectacle go to Woodward 2000 Scrapbook on the Homepage and look at some of the pictures. Stop back at this site often, everyone is very helpful and friendly.

SSProwler.....welcome to the POA board. Always nice to have new owners posting, sharing info and stories and humor.

In addition to Ed's information, 153 were made and 151 were offered to the public for sale. Each is numbered by Dr. Ru who pinstriped the cars for DC. They are numbered in the order that he striped them, not necessarily in the order that they were built.

Click on http://www.woodwarddreamcruise.com for the web site for this great event.

As Ed said above, the pinstripe on the Woodward Edition is not tape. It is hand painted. In the August 2000 edition of Cigar Aficionado, page 58, on the topic of what modern cars will be collectibles in the future, they cite the Plymouth Prowler will likely be a future collectible "especially since they are stopping the Plymouth name. You want something special, different, something thats legitimately special edition."

By the way, Woodwards have a black firwall, black sills, and black trunk under the carpet. If you think you see a Woodward and you check under the hood and see a red firewall then you know it is a fake. You know then that somebody took a red Prowler and painted the hood and trunk black. There are 3 other little secrets to identify a Woodward but I don't want to give all the information away. Just in case......

btw, I like the SS tag. Reminds me of the late 60's and early 70's Chevelles when discussing collectibles. L78 engine/LS5/LS6. Chrome hoodpins and Cowl Induction chrome letters on a 1970 Chevelle-looks awesome! I know someone who has a 1970 Chevelle SS convertible in MINT condtion with the L78 engine-375 hp engine. 1 of 5 convertible Chevelles with the L78 ever built. Ask price is $80,000.

Beginning in January, DC will produce 150 "Woodward Edition" Plymouth Prowlers. Named for the Motor cities famed cruisin' avenue, the WE Prowler will feature a unique two tone black on red paint job. Each car will also feature a hand painted red pinstripe by noted hot rod customizer Rudy Kutey. Rounding out the package will be a special edition two-tone trailer. Look for Woodward Edition Prowlers in dealerships beginning in February.

->Im alittle confused...According to the board here there we 151 woodwards offered to the public, then speaking with a member of the board, today, which is a dealer rep and a member of this board and he states that there were only 98 made. Then a post to my questions states that the WW will be available in the showroom floor ealy next year??? Whats going on...Im trying to do my research and find out exact numbers and trying to decide between Orange or a Woodward. Can someone help me out here or atleast tell me where I can get "reliable" and correct numbers? Thanks...I think this board is great!!!

Rich, I believe that Gary was quoting text from an announcement before the Woodward was brought out. Bob indicated that 153 were being built with 151 being offered to the public.
