I pull my nice freshly Zainoed Prowler out of the garage and proceed to drive in the pouring rain to the dealer. Get to the dealer, tell the service guy what's wrong, then he decides to take a phone call (that lasted ten minutes) midway through my talking to him. Then, I go to wait for the Prowler tech to arrive. I now have to take him for a ride to show him that my steering column makes a popping noise, because he somehow couldn't hear the loud "pop pop click pop click click" everytime the wheel is turned. By now it's 8:45, he was supposed to be there at 8:00. Then the service guy comes back in and informs me the Prowler tech through out his back, so "just bring the car back sometime next week." I don't have time for this I explained, it was hard enought getting the morning free this one time, let alone some time next week. Maybe I could drop it off Monday night and get it worked on Tuesday? NO! They refuse to let my car stay over night, they're scared to have my car there. So I ask if someone else can just install the new CD changer, shouldn't be hard. Again I'm told no, that if anyone else besides the Prowler tech touches the car, it voids the warranty or some lame excuse like that. To make it worse, the real reason I'm there is for new weather stripping, which supposed to be fixed in June, but they kept forgetting to order the parts. So here I am now with a broken CD changer, popping steering column, and shrunk weather stripping. Right back where I started, except now I have to spend my Saturday cleaning the car! Sorry for the long post, needed to vent! |

Daryl.....I'm so sorry you have had so much trouble with your dealer. I would find another dealer that has a certified Prowler tech, because you really don't want just any mechanic working on it. After some of the horror stories we have heard about leaving the car at the dealership overnight, I'm not sure I would do that anyway. To be fair, there have been lots of good experiences, too. However, if this is the attitude of your dealer, it would be in your best interest to find another one. I agree, dealerships don't make it easy to get your car serviced anymore. Here in Michigan, dealerships are only open during the day, except for Monday and Thursday nights. They are not open at all on Saturdays. Pain.... I hope you find a satisfactory dealer. You can always call and complain to your local DC Zone rep. Good Luck! |

Daryl, Hope you get your car fixed and find dealer that will meet your needs alittle better than the current one. I had a click in my wheel and they changed the clock spring. it didn't do it all the time and the tech at first told me he couldn't hear it. I left and went for a drive and when it was doing it drove back to dealer and had service manager come out without ever getting out of the car and listen to the click. He ordered new clock spring and in 1 1/2 years no more click. My dealer doesn't want my car overnight either and works on it when I bring it in. If they do not want the responsibility of your car there they sould cater to you when they schedule you in. My opinion only. Larry |

I had a similar experience with my dealer as well. I went in to replace my broken hubcaps and they treated me like a second class citizen. I finally lost my temper and demanded that they give me what I was entitled to under the warranty and they finally concurred. I still have a couple minor problems that I'm gonna live with until something drastic happens and then I'll search for another dealership. I was told that the only qualification that makes a so call "Prowler Tech" is to take a one day, eight hour course. Imagine that? |
