I arrived Cincinnati at 3:50 AM Friday (an hour and a half ago) after an 18 hour non-stop ride from Rangers, Texas, about 1050 miles. That includes a 10 mile standstill backup in Pres. Bubba's state and another 2 mile standstill back up shortly thereafter. The trip out to Laughlin was 8.5 out of 10, the trip back was about 1.5 or 2 out of ten. TEXAS weather sucks. The high was 35 on Wed. and the cover on the bike was frozen stiff Thurs. morning. I got stopped by snow twice and rain once. I dropped Sandy at the Phoenix airport and made it 5 miles before the rain started. That is when I discovered my rainsuit was in her bag with her. Her plane was delayed 90 minutes due to rain. I made it to Wilcox, Ariz on Monday, Tuesday to Pecos, Texas and to Rangers Texas on Wed before the snow hit. So I made it less than half way in three days and over half the last day. My prized MANIAC AWARD may come in handy, I will have to disassemble it. THE TRIP WAS STILL WORTH IT. You guys are the greatest and we will talk about this trip until we get old (or until Sandy gets old, too) We had a blast and really enjoyed meeting ALL of you. I am going to bed. Talk to you later. I haven't read any posts yet. Maybe I'll buy the Reader's Digest Version. Thanks for the memories, all of you. Can't wait to see the pictures. Did anybody get the name and address of the motor home guy who got hijacked so he can be sent a picture??? What a memory for him. Oh yeah, Motorcycles register on radar. I got stopped in Monahans, Texas, no less. Got a warning. Going less than 90 at the time. My speedometer broke in Phoenix and I didn't have cruise control. Had to hold my hand, arm and wrist in the same position for 18 hours. Carpal Tunnel coming up, does Prep H help that? Good Night. |

Glad you made it Ed..I have a pretty good idea how long your trip was. I had that weather in my rear view mirror all the way...whenever I tried to take a break it would catch up to me so I kept on going. I checked again and the TGF material doesn't mention the spoiler fit for a GoldWing. Sorry! Great to meet both you and Sandy and hope to see you soon. I made home late Wednesday afternoon, last straight shot about 1500 miles, and was darn glad I wasn't out there thursday...looked awfull. Thanks for all the concern and well wishes. Didn't see any Kinko stores in any of the major stops, ie Pecos, Rangers, Tex or Wilcox Az. The rest of the time I was looking at rain or snow, mostly. We had a blast, overall, Sandy just missed the wonderful trip home. I was wondering why she was smiling Larry S. (Or maybe it was laughing.) What a group and what a trip. All of you that planned it and carried it out did a fabulous job. I am disappointed Larry didn't list how far it was from Crazy Horse to CINCINNATI, however. I guess I will just add about 120 miles from Indy. By the way, the weather forecast was for sunny and 65 TOMORROW, wherever I was. I am done griping about the weather now!!!!! The trip was great, overall and we really enjoyed the company. We sure met a lot of neat people. |

Wildcat, wish you could have made it. It was great, mostly. Still glad I took the wing. We might take the Prowler to a Goldwing meet, just to even it up, haha. We will definitely get together in the near future. Maybe meet up at the big buffet, near you. Wolliver's??? or something like that. Get Phil from Richmond to meet us. I am so happy to be home and warm and dry. |

Good work, Sean. I hope someone sends him the pictures taken from atop his motor home. I don't have any from up there. Mike, it just so happens I was a radio/Teletype operator in the army. Of course I never did that job once I finished 18 weeks of training. I did learn morse code which has come in handy on a regular basis, lol. I really was just concentrating on staying upright most of the time. it was ugly out there. |
