You should take your foot off the gas pedal. ehhehee Just kidding. It was never happened to me, if it is working now, be happy, don't worry. Maybe someone else will jump in. Have a great day. |

Looked at my tach one morning and noticed that the needle had done a 360 and was now below the stop pin. I hadn't even started the engine, yet so I knew I didn't over rev it! Took tach out of bracket and rotated it in my hand until needle came back around. No problem since. Try it and good luck ! |

Steven - email Mike: cruiser@PTCruserClub.org He is a certified Prowler wrench, and may have the answer to your problem? Won't hurt or cost to ask him. Has helped others of us with questions about their cats. ------------------ [This message has been edited by PhxSuncat (edited 10-04-2000).] |

It's not an unusual problem. It happens when you bounce the Steering column. The needle jump over the peg. It normally returns when you hit a bump and bounce it back.

Lemme' guess. You parked next to a mid-80's Audi??? Can you say "sudden unintended acceleration?" Sure, I knew you could. [This message has been edited by Paul (edited 10-05-2000).] |

My tach does not drop below 800 RPM's even when engine is turned off. Anyone have an easy solution. Also I noticed the speaker cover on the driver's door is getting a big rust spot on it. I am presuming it is from my leg being up against it while wearing shorts and sweating in the summer heat. Anybody else notice this problem? I noticed condensation in my headlights last night, for the first time. It was gone today. I don't need an update on that one, as it has been addressed frequently. |

Ed, if your speaker cover is rusting due to your sweat HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT REDUCING THE SALT in your diet? hehehehe |

Wildcat, you're right, it was my leg not my corrosive personality that did it, I think. I had a heart attack and they told me to do away with anything that tastes good. They always ask if I watch what I eat and I always say, "NO". They tell me I am the only patient that tells the truth. I just tell them to give me more blood pressure medicine. That way I can still eat salty stuff. Thanks for the tip though. hahaha |

Needle below the peg? Just fixed this problem on EK Kesler's Prowler friday night. Set the steering wheel to lowest point, and then slightly spanked the back of tach afew times. Started cat up, bingo, it worked. I believe Al Becker to be right - gently adjust tilt wheel to prevent this occurrence. If you pop the tilt hard up, or slam it to down - expect this problem. ------------------ |

Larry, it works while the car is running but won't drop down to zero when I turn it off. Isn't the peg, at the zero? I need to look at it with my reading glasses on, in the daylight, and then I will actually be able to see it. |

Ed - peg is around the 4-500 rpm spot, does not go to zero. I don't look at tach unless reving engine into the 5-6,000 area. Learned in the old school of drag racing - shift by ear. It was no wonder I scattered rods, flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate parts all over. Bought a '67 Firebird 400 w/ tach on hood - now I had it figured out right - bent push rods and two trannys later, learned my lesson. I was the forerunner to the Nyle Wing model born afew years later. Those were the days - glad there gone for me - can't afford it anymore. ------------------ |
