When we bought the car, it conveniently came with the front plate already installed. I've decided I want that thing off. After closer inspection, they brutally drilled right into the bumper: As you can see, once these plates come off, it ain't a pretty site. The holes aren't flush either, there's quite a bit of frayed plastic and each looks like a "zit" with a hole drilled in it. The plastic covering the bumper looks like it can be removed. I'm hoping I don't need to change the whole bumper. Until I can figure out how to fix this I've put the front plate back on. And NO, the bumpers aren't coming off I think they balance out the slim nose of the car. |

Hazen-Pop in some plastic plugs and deal with it or have the holes filled and paint the bumpers the color of the car! |

Butchee, I thought about the plugs, but the holes aren't flush so they'd stick out anyway. Plus if it's possible to change the plastic cover I'd rather go that route. |

I would suggest pulling out the plugs and filling in the now slightly larger hole and painting it to match the car and having it clear coated. I paid $250 to have front and rear bumpers painted and the Plymouth Prowler script highlighted. Check it out on the friends scrapbook under my name. I am really pleased with the look, as I hated the grey bumpers. |

Hazen, My situation looked exactly like your picture. Here's what I did: I took a center punch and poked all the fiber etc hanging outward--and shoved it all inward. This tended to fill up the hole and make the holes look a whole lot better and smaller. But then I took some of those small dark brown electrical wall plate screws (like you have on your garage light switch--not ivory) and screwed them into the holes. I stopped at this point because no one even noticed the holes anymore-- that used to look like yours currently. But a guy could put a little flat black on those tiny screws if he wanted to get closer. Start with this and wait a week. You can always take stronger steps later but even I don't see the holes anymore and I'm fussy. |

LOL, Pauley you better knock it off. You already had me in stitches with your unique artistic talent. I got an email from HemiGuy explaining his similar problem and the nightmare he went through with the dealership. It looks like the plastic covering isn't offered by itself, you need to get a whole new bumper. He also explained to me his method of covering them up and said that after a while he didn't even notice them anymore nor did anyone else. Ed, very nice paint job on the bumpers. I can see them shine in the pictures. That's a little too much red for me, but it's a good idea. Yeah Roger, looks like I'm gonna just cook something up here. My father in law is good with his hands and all things that don't have to do with a computer. I think I'll ask him for some advice too. Or maybe I'll throw some bright CHROME screws in there, eh BUTCHEE |
