I need some from you guys. When I got home last night and parked the cat, I noticed a loud clunck and a winding noise for a few seconds, when I shifted from drive to reverse. Never had that before. Do I have a problem somewhere? Debbie |

Debbie, I have not noticed any noise out of my car in the 12,400 miles I have put on it. But I have a few questions. I'm not trying to make it sound like you are a GIRL and not know anything. I would ask this of anyone that had a problem. When you shifted to reverse were you at a complete stop? Was the car on a incline and maybe rolling alittle? Could the whine have been the trans cooler fan cycling? Has it done it since? Was your foot on the brake? It is best to be able to answer questions such as this when you go to service writter and say, My car made this funny noise. If you can tell them information such as this they will know you are connected with your car and might be able to reproduce the noise if it is a problem. The whine did it go away once you started to move or before/after. Good luck and hope it is nothing Happy Prowlin ------------------ |

I got the cat new and have 2700 miles on it now. I never heard it before. It does not matter you do foot on brake or not. It is happens though all the gears. From park to reverse, to drive to park, it does not matter. The same thing happens. It is at a level surface and at a dead stop. I want to make sure that the dealer knows what he is doing and not mess the car up. You guys on Prowleronline know more than most of the dealers do. Debbie |

Hi Debbie, Sorry to hear about your transmission. I've never heard of or experienced that kind of problem before. Have you checked the fluid level in the transmission? To get to the dipstick, open the rear hatch and lift the carpet back on the drivers side. You should see a large grommet about 3" in diameter. Pull this off and the dipstick is below it. Just an idea. If this seems normal and you really don't feel comfortable with your tech, try emailing Mike Challis at the PT Cruiser Club. Mike used to be a Prowler tech and is top notch!! Let us know what you find out. ------------------ |
