Do you read every new post on the discussion board, or only topics that catch your eye, or only topics submitted by people you know? I read every post, afraid I will miss something good. |

Ed, you were up way too late again! I also try to read every post. And you're right... don't want to miss anything. We all have a lot of posting to catch up to Gary! NEVER! If there is a chance to help someone with a question, including the tech questions, wouldn't want to miss that! Besides, it's just a heck of a lot of fun! |

ED, I try and read them all. You never know from the title where it will go. I have found out things I thought to be amusing or useful in some that I might not had if I only went by title. Like you riding your goldwing to G.C., wish I could join you. I too find more space to pack on Wing than Cat w/o trailer. Also think it is more comfortable, but 3 days in the rain would have been better in Cat than Goldwing on trip last year to FL. Larry |

Larry, You are definitely right about the rain. I hate driving in it. The day we were at the northernmost point in Nova Scotia it was raining fairly hard. The ocean was on the left and a mountain side on the right with lots of gravel on a hilly and winding road. The windshield was full of rain of course, so was the shield on the helmet and a little on my glasses. That made it hard to see. It was about 55 degrees out. The back seat driver asked why I was going so slow (compared to my usual speed) and I simply told her I was scared ----less. Oh the good times. We got to the bed and breakfast and they had the windows open and ceiling fans going. They were going swimming the next day and wanted to know if we planned on joining them. This was July 10th and it was about 55 degrees but summer doesn't start until July 15th, was the reply. The rest of the trip was glorious, so one day isn't too bad. It doesn't rain much in Oct or Nov., does it??? Especially out west. It will be an adventure, maybe a good one and maybe a bad one. I wish you could make the trip, also. |

Ed - What exactly is your "usual" speed? Maybe I better re-think about hitching a ride with you to the Grand Canyon!! |

CJ, If you have never ridden on the back of a Goldwing you are in for a treat. I took a friend a ride last weekend and she said she felt like she was sitting on a couch. Under 85 you would never guess the speed you are traveling Ed, if you have Hitch on your cat and would want to take it IF you had a trailer, you could use mine if you don't mind a custom painted yellow cat box. ------------------ |

Larry, thank you VERY much for the offer. I don't have a hitch on this one, as I never used the hitch I had on the last one. I bought a used '83 and kept it about a year, then test rode a 1500 and said "You might as well go first class" and bought a new one in '98. I only have 36,500 miles on it at this point. We went to a laundromat in Nova Scotia or somewhere up there and stripped to our undies and put on our rainsuits while we did all of our laundry. We have learned to pack light. We were gone for over two weeks with what we could get in the bike and a bag on the luggage carrier. Our friends carry so much crap on the back of their '99 I told him he was going to hit an overpass. Again thanks for the offer of the use of your trailer. CJ, I drive at a prudent, safe and sane speed, unless it is a long straight away with no side roads in sight. I never go over 100, and usually 75 to 80. Sandy actually sleeps while I am driving. I go nuts when she tells me that. I haven't had a speeding ticket in over 30 years, honest injun. I have been stopped a FEW times, however. I don't know if radar picks up motorcycles, I have gone thru radar several times, way too fast and never even had them give me a look. Sandy is now ruminating the GC trip. She has to consider vacation time as she still works to help keep me living the life I am accustomed to. (Yeah, right). |

Well, I hope Sandy goes with you to the Grand Canyon...... The visual of the bike piled so high it would hit an overpass was hysterical!!! Ed, I'm glad to hear you don't drive like Gary C. I just can't imagine, however, sleeping on the back of a bike....I can't even sleep in a car!! Hoping to meet you at the Grand Canyon! |

CJ, On the back of Wing easy to sleep. I have arm rest for the back seat rider. You would really have to lean on them to fall off. ED, I meant using the trailer behind your Cat, but I have pulled it behind my Goldwing to use my trailer hitch. Really too wide to pull behind bike. 5' wide so really have to pay attention to it. I read just about all of 'em except for the ones which topics state anything having to do with cruises or meeting up somewhere. Being that I live on a little island, I can't drive to any of these cruises or meet up with anyone But I love the pics, so keep 'em coming! |

You might live on an Island but you could dream of being on some faraway place such as Detroit or Dallas and imagine just how great it is, then wake up and realize you live in PARADICE Just think you can cruise to Diamond head, Bonzi Pipeline, visit the toilet bowl all in the same day. HAVE THEY FIXED THE UNIMPROVED ROAD SO IT CAN BE TRAVELED. The last guy I know that tried in the mid `80 said only by 4 wheel drive. ------------------ |

Larry, I would only have to be careful with the trailer if it was MY trailer. lol. I did miss the point but I did have a 50-50 chance of getting it right. Thanks again but I don't think I could make it that far in a prowler. My back would be killing me. (I love the Prowler, don't anyone take offense. I am tall and have a bad back) |

Sorry Wildcat, not sure which unimproved road you're talking about. Unless it's the whole freeway . Actually they are paving several miles of our main freeway as I speak. It's a night project and they actually close the whole thing down. I've got to get off my *** and take some pics with the car and Diamond Head in the background. |

Unimproved road around the north shore. I went around it in `80 on motorcycle. One area washing out and was told closed there due to the wash out. I was told about 14 miles around. Loved the ride and have some cool photo's to treasure for life. ------------------ |
