People: This is a must do Event, if you don't want to bring your Prowler bring a daily driver it will still be a blast. If you bring a daily driver you should display prowleronline.com stickers in the front and rear of your vehicle. I am sure Larry L. will have some for you. Water guns, better have a little anti-freeze loaded in there. hehe I will be there with rain gear on for the ATTACKERS. Make sure everyone brings their Radios. As much as I would like to see everyone in their Prowler, I realize that it's a long way to commute. An excellent possibility for those with little time would be to fly into either Phoenix or Las Vegas, rent a car and join us for some great times. Laughlin is located between both cities and air fares are reasonable to both. Prowlers will be returning through both cities on their trips home. Try to bring your Prowler if at all possible (trust me, it's much more fun when you have your Prowler) but it can still be a good time in a rental car. ------------------ |

After already fielding a few questions about the Grand canyon Event on November 2-5, 2000 maybe I will make some changes. I had planned on giving away T-shirts and goodie bags at the event. The cost of these items was to be included in the $225.00 cost. Due to the fact that some people may attend as a single instead of a couple, and the fact that some may only be able to attend one day instead of two, I have decided to price everything "ala carte" for this event. The rate of the Little America Resort hotel is $65.00 per night. (including taxes it becomes $71.43) for either 2 queen beds or a king mini suite. The price of dinner at Black Bart's Steakhouse is $25.00 per person with a choice of 4 entrees (ribs, chicken, prime rib or salmon) including all tips and taxes. The T-shirts will be embroidered with the ProwlerOnline logo that was used for the Woodward Cruise over the left breast area. A small ProwlerOnline.com will be embroidered on the lower right sleave and the wording "Grand Canyon Tour 2000" will be embroidered under the breast logo. This shirt will be a collectors item intended only be sold to those who attend the event on Saturday for the tour to the Grand Canyon. There is no limit on the quantities that you may purchase. This will be a high quality T-shirt with contrasting embroidery. The cost of the shirt will be in the $20.00 range. Please note that the shirt is embroidered and not silkscreened. A little more money, a lot nicer shirt. The Dinner Tickets and the T-shirts will be purchased directly from me. Please send a check to; The Everley Brothers Concert will take place at the Riverside Resort and Casino in Laughlin on the evening of November 2, 2000 if you care to attend. The cost of the concert is $37.50 per person. I'm sorry for not making this an all inclusive event but I just don't have the time to do it that way and I feel that making it "ala carte" will enable everyone to plan the type and length of event that best suits their needs and time frames. This event will be run much like the Hot Rod Power Tours are run. You will be in charge of what and where you do and go. I will supply the general schedule and itineraries and will do everything that I can to make your time with us enjoyable. In this way, it should be much more fun for you because of the oppotunities to do small side trips and stops as you wish. It also allows me to still have some fun by not having to completely plan your every move. I hope this helps to clarify some of the questions that have already been asked, and answer the many more that I'm sure are coming.

Maybe we can twist Bob's arm a little for you C.J. Bob will be in the Vegas for the SEMA Show won't he? Another couple of days for a second honeymoon to the Grand Canyon with his lovely wife shouldn't be a problem for such a wonderful, dedicated, caring and loving husband as Bob. I'm amazed that he hasn't already told you of his plans. Maybe he's going to surprise you with it. Oops! Gee, Sorry, I hope I didn't ruin his surprise for you. Jerry Scholten told me that he tests a lot of the prototype cars in the Baker, Phoenix and Vegas areas. Maybe Jerry's boss would like for him to test a car around that time. Wouldn't that be great timing? Let me know if I can do anything more to help! ------------------ [This message has been edited by Larry Lord (edited 09-13-2000).] |

Tony, I am seriously considering going to the Grand Canyon. I am in Cincinnati, so I am not exactly south, but the weather should still be reasonable at the end of October. I am thinking about riding my motorcycle out, rather than the Prowler. I have more storage on the bike and get a lot better mileage and actually it is more comfortable since I am tall. If you want to hook up we can drive south and go out the southern route thru Memphis into Texas or go thru Indianapolis and St. Louis and then drop down 44 to 40 and out. Anyone else considering going??? If you don't want to hook up with a m/c, I won't take it personally. I don't want to fly out and rent a car- that's no adventure. |

CJ, I would say that if you come down to Cincy, I would drive you out in the Prowler, but I don't have a trailer and there sure isn't room for two with luggage. I have gone to Nova Scotia on the bike and had room for two with luggage and even took the cover. Riding a m/c is a blast once you get out of the heavy traffic. Been to Dallas, Fla, Nova Scotia, U.P Mich etc. Been to over 20 states on the bike and that is why I also want to hit the west, add a few more states. If you want to ride on the back of the m/c to the Grand Canyon, I am game. Plan on about a four day trip, one way. After 500 miles or so, it starts to get a little old. Or else I am old and it gets to be a little much, take your choice. Those western states keep getting a little bigger, too. Cincinnati is only about 940 miles to Dallas. Dallas to Phoenix is almost 1100. hard to believe, isn't it? What was the question, I am rambling. |

Well, Ed, if I can't convince Bob, I just might take you up on it. If I can handle the YAK 52, hot air ballooning, 4 days down the Colorado River on a raft, and Gary C., I can probably handle a m/c. Larry - I'll start on Carol today! |

CJ, what is a YAK 52? and how did you get down the Colo. river in 4 days. It took us 9 days, I think. Were you on a jet ski?? We were on 15 person raft with outboard motor. |

A Yak 52 is a Russian Fighter trainer plane. My brother-in-law, who just retired after 38 years on the Boulder, CO fire dept., is also a pilot and is also a flying instructor. A friend of his owned the plane. He certified a Russian pilot on the plane, who taught him some aerobatics. Of course I didn't turn down the offer when he asked me if I wanted to go up and try it out! I've been flying with him several times in small planes. It was interesting flying upside down and see the world from that perspective!! Several years ago, we did a 4-day, three night raft trip down the CO river, starting at Moab, UT and ending up in Lake Powell. Went through Cataract Canyon at high water. What an unbelievable experience! We had 6 people plus the two guides......was the most exciting vacation (and relaxing) that we've ever had!!! It was a specialty trip called Expeditions in Luxury. We had two guides that were gourmet cooks and waited on us hand and foot. We had crystal and candelabra, filet mignon, flaming cherries jubilee, champagne, ....you get the picture! Camped in tents and no bathroom facilities! It was great!!!!!! Would do it again in a second, along with the YAK 52 and the hot air ballooning. Bob wouldn't do the plane or the hot air balloon.....1 out of 3 ain't bad! |

CJ, No wonder Russia went out of business, naming their fighters after Yaks. I guess a Yak can be pretty ferocious at times. I think it was MEATLOAF on his BAT OUT OF HELL album who so eloquently sang "I want you, I need you, but there ain't no way I am ever going to love you, but don't be sad, cause 2 out of 3 ain't bad" so I don't know why you were thinking it was 1 out of 3 ain't bad. lol. You went down the upper Colo. river. We started just below the dam at Lake Powell and went thru the park to Lake Meade. We didn't have gourmet food but it was pretty good and they did every bit of work. We just had to throw our stuff on board in the morning and off the boat in the evening. We didn't even have tents, just slept under the stars. Never saw an insect, but a hummingbird landed on a guy's golf hat. It had some red figure on the bill of it and the hummingbird landed on it in the middle of the river. It was an unbelievable experience, I can't believe how many stars are visible when you are in the total darkness like that. Never been in a fighter or hot air balloon, but went up in a glider in the early 70's. That was pretty cool. I am sorry to hear you are not going to GC. I am pretty sure I am going. I don't have much going on during that stretch. By the way what is SEMA? |

I will have to email my YAK picture to Mike to put on the site, so you can see what it looks like. You're a Meatloaf fan? You don't know Bob, 1 out of 3 ain't bad....! Our raft was not motorized, the guide did the rowing. We did take turns helping out, though. One of the areas we camped had a large infestation of scorpions, which they warned us about. Leave your tents zipped up, no shoes left out (or at least shake them out before you put them out), etc. Never saw them, but the next a.m. there were tracks everywhere! Our guides did not sleep in tents. One slept on the beach, the other always slept on the support raft (which was motorized and carried all the gear and supplies). One of them got bitten (although he wouldn't admit it), I caught him showing the bite to the other guide. He was fine, though. You're right, the stars are unbelievable and it is sooo dark in the canyons at night. The first night we were out, we were camped on a ridge right above the river. Our cooks/guides had prepared Flaming Cherries Jubilee. It was extremely dark, but the moon was out. They lit it up and all of a sudden out of the dark a voice said, "Hey, look at that! How come we don't get that?" There was another raft trip going past us in the dark that we couldn't even see. But obviously, they could see us! It was pretty funny! Not done a glider......yet. Down the road from our lake cottage, there is a place that flies and teaches power chuting. They are motorized parachutes. They will take you up for an introductory ride for $40 bucks. Want to try that, they fly over the lake all the time. When my son was home on leave this summer from the AF, he and his older brother tried it. They flew over the cottage and I was able to get video coverage. It was great! SEMA stands for Specialty Equipment Market Association. They have probably the largest automotive aftermarket product show in the world. It's held every first weekend in November. It's not really for the public, but just about every aftermarket manufacturer and all of the auto manufacturers participate. It's quite something. When my company did the Plymouth Prowler road show for DC, I had to go out for the week and work the display. They have great displays with lots of modified vehicles, specialty vehicles, etc. Bob always has a number of his at the show (that he has built for DC). Haven't totally given up on GC yet........ |

CJ, I have one Meatloaf CD. I never even heard of him until about 5 years ago. I think "Paradise by the dashboard light" is really a clever song. His songs are all 7 or 8 minutes long so they are never on the radio but I do like the Bat out of Hell CD. I have it on the Prowler changer now, as a matter of fact. I like just about any type of music except rap and the really hard rock. I have about 6 Sinatra CD's and all of the Beatles, I really like Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly. A little bit of everything. |

Okay, Roy Orbison......now there's a guy with music to cruise to!! I have very diversified music tastes, also, from Roy Orbison and most of the 50's and early 60's stuff (real cruisin' music) to Sarah Brightman to Johnny Mathis (now that there's parkin' music ) to pop to country to new age. Lived through the heavy metal stage with my then teen-age sons (thank goodness that's over). Have you seen Meatloaf in the movie Black Dog starring Patrick Swayze? |
