This Car is a HOT BOX These are my thoughts as to why the cars ventilation system seems to pump out HOT AIR The converters are just infront of your feet. Now what did you learn in science class about HEAT? That's right class it rises. As the heat rises it is picked up by the fresh air system and delievered to you at no charge As with all hotrods and sports cars they are hot boxes. I think DC wants to let us have the real effect of driving a HOT ROD I end up running my air unless it is really cool out. Changing the fresh air/cabin air control does nothing to change the air temp in my car when wanting just fresh air. It could be the extenal air pick up location that is causing this. JERRY ARE YOU WATCHING AND HAVE A BETTER ANSWER THAN I DO ON THIS? ------------------ |

Those cats pump out a lot of heat! Open the hood after a cruise and feel the heat pouring out. Ever feel how much faster the car feels until it gets hot? Seems like a 25-30 HP loss.Hot air wont make power! Bet the car would benefit big time with hood and or side panel louvers. Problem with the hood is the reinforcement structure welded in, making louver punching a take apart and put back together proposition. Been thinking about it! |

Meow!! Louvered side panels would greatly benenfit those of us with Paxton superchargers. Realrod, TGF, Carlini, are you listening? There doesn't seem to be any way to get air into the intake of the supercharger from the front of the car. The air intake is currently right next to the exhaust manifold. If someone could design a louvered side panel with an airtight fit into the intake of the supercharger it would be a great benefit!! ------------------ [This message has been edited by Mike Krehel (edited 09-01-2000).] |

Mike and Butchee, I asked about that in Detroit and the Chrysler Products have the highest ambient temperature under the hood. |

CLZUR IZ, what I've been trying lately when cruising with the windows down is setting the vent on outside air and keeping it there. I notice that when the selector is on recirculating air, the head just kind of gets trapped in the vents and builds up, turning the "cockpit" into an oven. When the vent switch is in the outside air position (from when you first start driving the car) you've always got outside air blowing through the vents, so the heat doesn't really have a chance to build up. Of course, being stuck in traffic doesn't help to get air flowing through and you'd probably be better off using the a/c. But overall, while on the move, I'd say there's a noticeable difference |
