While returning from Lemay Car Show Mopar Luggage Rack broke at the hitch letting rack and luggage slide on pavement. Luckily it did not sever completely as I was doing 70 mph in heavy traffic. Don't want to think of the accident this would have caused had it severed completely from the hitch. My suitcase is ruined. It weighed 40 lbs. Warning label is 75lbs. DO NOT USE THIS RACK TO CARRY ANY THING. RETURN IT TO MOPAR BEFORE IT KILLS SOMEONE. MOPAR SHOULD PUT OUT A RECALL. |

WE had noticed at the Conner Plant, that some of the cat's had a new horizontal bar add'ed, right in the center of license plate. Is this a new Design by Mopar? There's alway's been Rumors of vaulty Rack's. Sounds like another Firestone Recall to me! Can Jerry from D.C. check into Matter? Gary H. |

Pictures above look identical to the failure I had with luggage rack. Driving down middle -of-nowhere Nebraska highway and suddenly was dragging my luggage rack. Got new luggage rack and case from dealer and immediately took rack to local speed shop to have it reinforced. No problems to date with reinforced unit. Phil 99Red PG PRWLR |

Tom - Sorry to hear about your accident, looks like a design flaw. Not to change the subject, but where are your brake lights relocated? Larry S. |

I received these pictures today from Phil Genet (see post above) of the modifications he had made to his luggage rack. Here they are for all to see, Mike |

Yaeh, where are your tail lights, and how you covered the factory ones? Pretty good idea! I guess red ones would not have to do that. ------------------ |
