"An estimated 1.4 million people lined a nine-mile stretch of Woodward Avenue Saturday for the Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise, an event quickly becoming a national celebration. In six years, it has become a one-day greeting card to that most American passion, where the past and the present are joined by the Motor City's love of cars."

"People now make hotel reservations for the cruise a year in advance, and they come from across the nation and Canada."

"An estimated 30,000 classic cars and trucks were believed to have taken part in the event."

"Some drivers showed off their wealth. A couple drove a 1999 Plymouth Prowler featuring the license plate YYESSSS; others got stuck in traffic, like a FedEx driver and a crying teen-age girl, who was taking an A-1 drivers education lesson and got stuck on Woodward at 14 Mile. "Pull over! Pull over!" her instructor shouted, as they retreated into a parking lot."

"It is amazing the number of people from around the country who come here," said Bill Ording, who runs the parking structure at Shrine High School at 13 Mile west of Woodward. "It feels like it is going to be bigger this year."

"The parking lot was full by noon. A total of 18 Plymouth Prowlers were parked there, driven to the Cruise by owners from 17 states, some as far away as Texas and California."

CJ ... Hat's offto YOU and to CAROL for all the hard work and time you put into making this event such a succss for the owners and for Prowleronline.com. I only wish that my schedule would have permitted me joining you folks, but I want my name on the top of next year's list to attend for certain. Also, recognition should go to your husband, Bob, for putting together such a thourough itinerary with the DC Execs. and facilities.
