Wednesday evening 8/16/00 I came home
from doing an errand in my Prowler, parked
in the Garage as usual, closed garage door
looked out the window. I noticed something shining in the drive so I went to check it.
To my surprise it was my right lug nut
cover. The real shocker was the large nut that holds the wheel on the axle was laying
ther also. Needless to say I was lucky that
it didn"t come off on the freeway.
I took the car back to the dealership to
have it torked properly and was informed that it was going to cost me 32.50. I made the comment that they were @#$@* me. I was told
by the "Service Manager" that it was
maintenance. I asked him how often he took
his Hubcaps off and checked the lug nuts
and axle nut. He said every 500 Miles. I
found that very hard to believe. Needless
to say I paid the bill after it was corrected. All of sudden it became 45.00
correct price should have been 32.50 that
I was Quoted. I also informed the dealership
Meador Chrysler/Plymouth that due to faulty
workmanship, which could have possibly
cost my life and I had to pay to get it
taken care of that I would never purchase
another car or part from them.
It would be a good idea if you pull the
cover off and check to make sure that the
nut is tight.

Could it have been that someone was trying to steal your wheels either there or somewhere else?

I've never tightened mine on any car (foreign or domestic) and have never had that problem.

However, a buddy of mine, constantly had to tighten the lugs on a Camaro he had as someone, almost weekly tried stealing the wheels and t-tops off of it.

RC: I think HiHo is right on -- Theft! Invest in wheel locks, someone might want those nice wheels.

Also, don't know if you have them in your area (Discount Tires) but, you probably have a place like it, anyway, they tighten lugs, rotate tires, and generally fix flats for free. At least that's been my experience.

No one has tried to steal anything as the
car stays in the garage and the only times it
has been out is with our prowler group or
at my office with the security guard oohing
over it as they keep a close eye on it.

David:
Sean was no help as they informed me that
he is only a salesman.
