The cover really looks cool. How about air flow. Does it restrict the air. And how much does it cost? |

it cost $229.i haven't any problems at all. i have yet to hear the fan come on, somebody posted that he put a spacer before bolting on the cover for better airflow. by the way it fit perfect and 5 min. to put on. ------------------

Always pros and cons ... me, I don't like it. The fins could be longer (wider?) to encompass the width of the cover ... looks too unfinished ... but that's just my 2 cents worth. |

Davidn could you get a shot from further back? I don't think this shot does the cover justice. Thanks Muzz |

From what I have been told, anytime your engines fan activates and turns on, so does the rear transaxle fan. I know both of my fans work, I chekced them out one day in my driveway when they came on. But I am not able to hear the rear fan because the front fan makes a lot more noise. But you can see the rear fan running and feel the air flow thru the radiator. This brings me to another point. If anyone out there can prove to me with a scientific theory how covering up one side of a radiator is not going to restrict the air flow, I will buy them dinner and all of the beer they can drink in one evening, so that they can explain it to me. If you don't think so, install the same type of cover on the front of your engine radiator. Then call me when your car overheats. Yes, the cover will restrict airflow. As too how much and whether it will hurt the transaxle? You would need the specifications on the Transaxle Temp's and testing that DC did when they decieded to add the Radiator. You would also need to find out how much hotter the transaxle would run with the cover on. My personal opinion is that DC would recommend against installing the cover. I think it restricts too much air. Your warrenty might also not cover any damage to your transaxle because you have modified the vehicle from stock. A variable that would be most important to me is what the average temp's are where you lived. If you lived in the Yukon or somewhere where it is cold most of the time, the cover probably would not hurt anything. In fact, when the weather gets really cold, people do install radiator covers so that the engine will run hotter. But if you lived down in Pheonix where it gets in the 100's, I would seriously consider whether covering up my radiator is a wise decision. If you are worried about dings in the radiator, you can buy combs to fix bent blades and paint for the chips. I would not want to spend $200 on a cover and then fork out several hundred a few years later to rebuild my transaxle. But this is just my opinion and I am not attacking anyone. ------------------ |

Sorry .... even at a distance, still looks too "industrial" for my liking, not "cool" enough ... but I see where people would add it to "protect the fins" on the cooler. I just think it is easier to not back into things, myself. Oh well ... as I said earlier ... pros and cons to everything! |

David, Looks like your doing fine with your new camera. Remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That's why I think yellow is the best Prowler color. No flames please - Just kidding. ------------------ |

AH, TO COVER OR NOT TO COVER! I like the look without a cover, but I also have a trailer hitch. I feel the hitch also protects the cooler. I have had my car 2 years and 11,000 miles and still no damage at all to the cooler. Yes I do own fin combs and at some point might need to use them or at that time buy a cover. Dave, you have taken some very good pictures, THANKS, I do like chrome and wanted to see one installed. Also liking louvers I thought it would look cool. Without a hitch or with a chromed hitch the cover would be OK. If I were to have designed for my car I would prefer instead of single louver on a line to have 2 louvers per line. My personal opinion only. I think Tony Carlini makes so really cool stuff In black the cover would be great to protect but not accent for the ones with a hitch! WildCat |

I personally like the cover. I guess everything is a matter of opinion. I think that a black cover would look better on a black car. My 2cents |
