It was touted today, "9/11 Widows Group to Endorse Kerry "Wow! Alot of folks lost loved ones on 9/11. More then 3000 killed. Sounds pretty impressive, huh? So who all makes up that impressive group? It consists of Five widows and a sixth woman who was badly injured in the attack on the Pentagon endorsed Kerry. So out of 3000 potential widowers, 5 endorse Kerry. And out of scores of folks injured in 9/11, 1 woman is all they have. Yes, pretty impressive........

I consider myself pretty much middle of the road. What I don't like is the media's complete bias to the point of flat out right lying. A fair journalist would say, o.k., 6 are for Kerry, who are the other 3000+ for? Perhaps who the 3000+ are for is the real story (and group) and the 6 are just that, 6. So they word the article making it sound like everyone associated with 9/11 is for Kerry. I'd like them to just play neutral on events like politics. But, they won't. They feel if they lie enough and twist and turn stories, they can manipulate the outcome of any election to their own satisfaction. What's so wierd is that the media has become blatantly obvious with this election. No inuendo, no slight of hand, they just come out and lie, publicly back Kerry, are aids on his campaign, ad. nauseum.....

Being neutral does not sell....the days of the unbiased story with just the facts are gone forever. Now its ratings and advertisers.

YellowFever:I thought the exact same thing: this is news? I read up on this and these women blame the Bush administration for "intelligence failures" that led up to 9/11. Blame the Carter administration, ladies. It was in the late 1970s when America's human intelligence apparatus was dismantled. Or how about Clinton? He was reportedly offered Osama bin Laden by the Sudanese, but refused. While I certainly feel bad that these poor ladies lost loved ones on 9/11, they need to remember it was Bush administration that deposed the Taliban and has captured or killed 2/3 of al Qaeda's leaders. Also, there hasn't been another terrorist attack on U.S. soil in 3 years, something none of us would have thought possible after 9/11. Not to sound callous, but I've noticed that a lot of people seem to think that experiencing a traumatic loss, like these poor ladies did, bestows lifetime exemption from having to deal with facts, logic, and reason. It doesn't.

Reminds me of a newspaper quote my father told me about in Israel at a time when Russian immigrants arriving was at its peak: "Russian immigrants are up 30% (or something to that effect) but American immigrants are up 400%". It wasn't until you actually read the fine print that you understood that at that year there were 4 American immigrants, up from 1 immigrant in the previous year... It's funny how the media plays with numbers... i.e. "3 times" = "300%" This message has been edited by Orange on 09-14-2004 at 10:35 PM

I find that a good portion of what the media prints is not newsworthy..........and I hate it when a few give the rest of us a bad name.........don't assume that all women feel that way........we don't!
