Many of you know that my Mother has been on the waiting list for a double lung transplant for quite some time now. Well, at 1245am this morning the call finally came in. Surgery started around 645am, and it is probably going to be at least a 6 hour procedure. I'm anxious to see her get her life back, and not have to be on oxygen 24/7. I just pray that the surgery goes well, and her body doesn't reject it's new parts.

Thanks.

Also, this is going to be an extremely expensive procedure. Insurance doesn't pay all of the costs involved, so if any of you are looking for a Tax deduction, or just want to help out donations can be made at the following location. Click the URL and select Debra Behr. National Foundation For Transplants

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

Well,
So far so good! Mom got out of surgery at about 2:00pm. It took a little over 7 hours to complete. I have seen her in the recovery room. She's still pretty much out of it, but she can see, hear, and move her hands in response to questions. She is on a breathing machine for now which is normal. Things will be a little shaky for the next few days making sure that she doesn't have any rejection issues. Thank you all for your support in this difficult time. It really means a lot!
I'm so thankful for the gift of life the donor has given.

Well,
Things went well over night. Hopefully they may be taking some of the tubes out of her today. They can't leave them in too long because it increases the chance for infection.
I will be going to see her later on this afternoon. Visiting times right now are limited to 15 minutes every 3 hours. I'll post another update later.

I appreciate all of your kind words, all your thoughts and prayers really mean a lot. I can't wait to show her this when she is able to go back home.

Some of you have PM'd me about the site being down. I have made a call to them, and things seem to be up and running right now.

Thanks Again!
Ron
